Sigh. I feel this is a mistake.

It depends on who they want to take. If they feel they can still get Hezonja, if he's the guy, with a lower pick perhaps that is the smart move. They can get more assets and still get the player they want.
knicks1248 @ 6/25/2015 2:18 PM
is there a deadline for the trade exceptions to be used?

I know, all this hype of a top pick to win two game, but then fall 2 more spots and lament of what could have been. Then, be 4th while there is a "Top 3" and then to trade down and feel those guys are tainted and the buzz of a draft all goes past us.

Reality is we hae the 4th pick and its an asset. If Phil is to really be the crafty lord of the rings with special Jedi mind tricks he turns the 4th pick into magic but thats not gonna be apparent for a few seasons so your sense of doom is also a sense of impatience. Its like going to buy a new car and then your realize that if you get a used car for less money, you might also be able to buy that house next year if you spread it out.

Sigh.

Funny P Jackson said yesterday they were listening not "soliciting". Sounds more like a desperate plea to go out of their spot to justify a strange move.

I think Phil meant saying 95% when he said 5%

Ehhh...Woj is the same dude that predicted PJax was not coming to knicks...next day, Phil was into'd as new president...

We don't know how much of the conversation has been started by the Knicks or just continued. The Knicks aren't in any weak position here. They are fine just staying where they are. It's the teams behind us that may want to get a specific player that are more desperate IMO. These rumors aren't telling us who called who. They just assume that the Knicks are calling which fits the narrative that we're desperate when in fact the Knicks are not desperate.

I think one thing that works in our favor is that we can't actually trade the pick, only the rights to the player since we traded last year's pick. We'll know who we're trading for before we pull the trigger, and won't have to hope our target is there.

short answer is yes. Every exception has time limit. Also, I believe the kicks have until July 1 to use their exceptions since they will go below the cap and then those exceptions will count against the cap unless they renounce them.

I doubt they use their trade exception because it goes against them "freeing up cap space"

I think it's quite fair to say the Knicks are always desperate. We always are. It's easy to manipulate a desperate party to do something dumb.

All these trades and nobody wants to move up? .... Sigh.... I hope this is all just a smoke screen to keep Philly from trying to pick a player to ransom to the knicks.

Don't get attached to the 4th pick. Its most likely a trade. Wait to see when Kaminsky is called. If it's the Suns that's a done deal.

Every mock draft has Kaminsky under 10--at this point thats inside information. He could even go a tad higher--I know hes a white guy but hes pretty good.

most ive seen he is 10—12. He is good but im not picking him at 4. If its a trade down yes i would But it would have to be a kings ransom type deal for us

I hope the Jazz have a deal with Millsap and want Porzingis as much as I think they do. That is a team I would trade with. The trade would be close to the rumored trade they tried last year to move up to get Wiggins, #5/Favors/#23/Burks for the #1 pick.

Jazz already have Golbert, why add Porz?

The Zinger is a three, eventual 4-5 in time.

Going Small with fast skinny guys with long arms?

Ok, dude is white.

If Zinger is going to have any hope of surviving in the league, he better be a 4. There's no such thing as a 7'1" SF in the NBA. Any time guys say there are, those guys wind up being busts, usually.

You know what POrzingis reminds me of right now--Gobert before his draft. Porzingis is being put down right now--hes 19 he just came to this country he had two mediocre workouts--and supposedly Gobert hada slew of bad workouts--but at the end of the day Porzingis is 7-2.5 with a 7-6 wingspan and hes skilled. he needs time but he can help now. The chance of him busting is VERY low--he might not be great he could be but once he gets stronger and puts on 15-20 why cant he do what Gobert is doing--rebounding blocking shots scoring passing--Gobert went 27 I understand there is less risk but thats life I guess no one is risk free beyond pick 3. Its a chance to have an athletic 7-2 C for the next 15 years.

And everyone is right--when drafting him--first off position him at 5 IMMEDIATELY--do not give him a thought process he is anything but a C. He can take an outside shot but he would immediately be in post camp learning moves with his soft touch and length.

So does that mean you'd take him over Hezonja?
