Knicks · And Now You Know Why Anthony is Not a Leader... (page 1)

WaltLongmire @ 6/26/2015 1:09 PM
Now it begins...and maybe the Melo era should end...sooner rather than later.

Now you know why Anthony is not a leader.

He made the rookie PG comment and now he makes this one.

His boy Winslow, who had undoubtedly been influenced by Melo when he talked about market and branding, was not picked, and this is what our franchise player does.

Plays in the same town as Jeter played in...What would Jeter have said?

Even if he believes this, the idiot should just keep it to himself. That is what a person with even a bit of class or leadership skills would do.

Now we know that Jackson was sending a message to Anthony when he talked about wanting players with character who were not interested in shoe endorsements and branding.

(Sorry for the slight duplication of fishmike's thread)

Briggs has one of these going, too. How many do we need?

Wrote this as he put his out. As you can see, I commented about fishmike's thread.

Will say this, though, how many anti-pick nonsense threads have gone up in the past 12 hours or so?

One thing... this is Isola. Lets see what Melo says. Does Melo know KP? Did they work out? I have no problem with him not liking this. He doesnt know KP and Timmy was a buddy and Grant is a choir boy.

Showing up in shape and embracing these guys will be plenty of leadership for me. If he snarks publicly then 10000% yes, he's being a class-A douche, but Melo is allowed to privately not like this. Leadership isnt how you feel, its how you act. Lets see what he tweets or says

The Shadow

Melo is not going to publicly say anything negative about our draft, that would be madness.

Isola is a muckraker. I can't believe anything he says about the Knicks anymore. He has a grudge.

You coach. I've coached for 25 years.

If true, this is a major moment of idiocy after what should have been a big moment for the franchise. Team leaders don't do things like this. Lebron showed this kind thing in Miami at the start, and then this year. Not a good thing.

I hope Isola's story is not true, but I would bet my house it is. You may not like him as a reporter, but you don't make this kind of assertion in NYC without solid sources.

Maybe you say something on the phone, but then you have to trust the person you're talking to.

At my old school you never told anything in confidence to Tony S., because you knew it would be spread throughout the school.

I guess that Melo just spoke to the Tony S. in his life, or even more foolish, he left some kind of digital trail that someone picked up on.

Just plain stupid.

"If true". The one thing that should stop a person from having a hard line opinion about something that may or may have not even happened to begin with. As men, we try not to gossip. Allow a man to actually speak his own mind. Until then, its "if true". Which is all that needs to be understood at the moment.

whether it is true or not melo would never admit it anyway. Truthfully i would be relieved if melo demands a trade. We would get assets cap space and kris can develop correctly

Fair point... but I have a bad feeling, and how many times are athletes and celebs getting into trouble because they say things without understanding the consequences?

Anthony is many things...he is not unintelligent. Is there any reason he might actually want this type of thing to get out?

DrAlphaeus @ 6/26/2015 1:47 PM
Like I said in the other thread, the next step is the public show of support by Anthony for the new guys. Calculating or not, I expect it.

He has a right to an initial reaction. His alledged reaction is a question about the near future. He is part of that answer. Let's see if he can help figure it out.

It's Anthony that has the biological clock ticking. He smells basketball mortality perhaps for the first time. And hey, most players don't win chips, we are in the Eastern Conference with another all-time great blocking our path, and he's already setting himself up for a good career after hoops. So we'll see what he wants to do as a basketball player going forward.

Edited because this could very well be a bunch of bullshit.

EwingsGlass @ 6/26/2015 1:49 PM
"I am sorry to see you go" = displeasure

"Sucks you got traded" = displeasure

"I hate this cause now I'm the worst defender on the team" = displeasure

"I'm upset that they didn't consult with me" = displeasure.

Get my drift?

Regardless -- he is analytically correct on the three year thing. Melo needs to win now. Maybe what the Knicks need and what Melo needs now differ. I need to get some value from Melo in a trade.

yellowboy90 @ 6/26/2015 1:50 PM
Without knowing the Isola quotes feel like something Hardaway would say.

Isola- did you speak to Melo

TH- Yeah, he said he though the guy was a project, 3 years away.

Isola- What he say about you being trade

TH- He said he hated to see me leave and wanted me to stay

nixluva @ 6/26/2015 1:52 PM
This is all about SAS causing trouble for the Knicks. He's always in Melo's ear starting trouble.

Carmelo Anthony feels “completely hoodwinked and betrayed by Phil Jackson’’ after the Knicks traded Tim Hardaway Jr. and selected European project Kristaps Porzingis with the fourth pick of the draft, according to a radio report by ESPN’s Stephen A. Smith.

The report cited sources close to Anthony, who is currently in Las Vegas for his wife La La’s birthday.

“All they said was he’s furious, he’s livid, he feels completely hoodwinked and betrayed by Phil Jackson,’’ Smith said. “He feels like he was lied to and sold a bill of goods. He’s willing to concede he wanted his money, but he didn’t know it would be like this and this bad. He can’t believe the second season for Phil Jackson he has to look forward to being worse than last season was.”

Finestrg @ 6/26/2015 1:54 PM
Absolutely. No way is this guy a leader. He's so friggin' immature I can't handle it. Dude, whatever with this fucking guy already, man. I can't anymore. Sorry, not trying to be a hater but I called it--I called it that the Porzingis pick would get booed loudly and that's exactly what happened. Called it that Melo would be a dick about the pick too and he was. SMH man. I mean who did he want, WCS? And he didn't even like the Jerian Grant pick too? Is that right? WOW...F him. I still can't believe we resigned him to be the centerpiece here. Dude should've been traded to the highest bidder during when he hit FA. I agree with those saying Dolan intervened and ordered Phil to resign him. Phil didn't want any part of this guy, man. Can't wait until he either breaks down altogether or begins to decline rapidly a year or two from now and we're suck holding the bag on his albatross contract...This guy is not a team player at all. Feel bad for Kristaps man -- dude's already starting behind the eight ball and he didn't even lace 'em up yet. Joke..

If you read what they are saying Melo said it reads not like Melo talking but SAS!!! Using the words "Hoodwinked" and "betrayed" is almost exactly the words that SAS used yesterday in his tirades. This is all about SAS stirring up trouble.
