I didn't get one of the players I wanted (Russell or Stein or Winslow), but I am happy with the kid Grant, and hope that Porzingis is as good as advertised. I am now ready to see what or who Phil can entice to come and play as a free agent.
I want: Monroe, Butler, Davis, and a catch and shoot dude
Kind of relieved you're ready...I usually take my queues from you, and was wondering when you would announce your readiness.
Butler is not happening. I could sooner see Chicago trade Derrick Rose this off-season than let Butler go.

Aw jeez - I just want LeBron and Steph curry
I am somewhat resigned to Greg Monroe, but I think he could be good here.
I am intrigued by David West, though I don't know if we can afford both he and Monroe. This team needs a leader.
I think we need a sort of 3 and D guy who can play SG or SG/SF. DeMarre Carroll and Danny Green are two guys to look at there.
We can basically afford to sign 2 guys out of the Greg Monroe, DeMarre Carroll, Danny Green, David West group. Then we can start adding exception guys and minimum guys.
I don't know who the other realistic options are. I think we're set at PG now between Grant, Galloway, Calderon. We have that Melo character. I think KP would be best served coming off the bench and we need two starting quality guys in the front court next to Melo, at least for now. KP may be able to start next season (meaning 16-17), but I don't think he's ready to start in October. There have been 9 (nine total) 19 yr olds to come into the NBA and play over 30 minutes per game in the past 20yrs. Can't expect too much from KP too early.
So I think we need two front court starters next to Melo and maybe a 3 and D SG. Though I think we might be able to go with who we have on that front between Grant and Gallo both being able to play the PG or SG and also Thanasis and maybe Ledo and maybe Shved and maybe Early comes into his own a little more at backup 3 this year.
Anyhow, I'd roll with:
Grant / Calderon / Shved
Galloway / Thanasis
Melo / Early
David West / Kristaps Porzingis / Amundson
Greg Monroe / Cole
(no that team probably won't win 50 games, but if you're expecting to win 33 more games than last season, your name must be Melo)
Broussard said today that the Spurs may not be able to sign Green if they get Aldridge. I could see Green, Monroe and West being Knicks next year.

I wish we could afford all three, but I think we'd need to choose between West and Green which we offered the $12M slot to. Both those guys are getting $12M/year easy, as is DeMarre.

Choose West and Green over Monroe.

I would be okay with that. I do think we would need another big in that case. Maybe Ajinca.
My dream is still to get Deandre - max him out - or is he just not in our reach? I am not very good on salaries and stuff.

Even if he is teh only real acquisition this season it gets us set at a position of need for the foreseeable future.

Danny Green isn't Danny Green without the Spurs. I'd be leery to offer him a 8-digit multi-year deal because he is simply too inconsistent and unremarkable. If he signs for a 3 year, 7-digit per year deal I'd be game. I'd even look into acquiring Splitter in a contract dump should LaMarcus signs with the Spurs.

I love West, but I would chose Monroe over him due to his age. We need cats that can be around for a while. I would go with Caroll before D. Green, because Carroll is the better defender and knock down the 3 ball. Green's floor game is not too solid

Splitter would be a great addition if healthy. His IQ is ether then everyone currently on the roster and is a fantastic passer
What is West's market value? I'm definitely not paying him more than $6 million per and that wouldn't put a major dent in our cap space.

That plus a front office job when he retires
Can we sign West for a 1 year deal matching his "declined" player option at Indiana? That'll leave us flexibility for next year...

That'd be nearly half our cap space so no.

Not my company, so I'd welcome it if it allowed us to lowball him.
