Knicks · I did not see the SAS thing (page 1)

BRIGGS @ 6/26/2015 9:09 PM
Exactly what was SAS's plan to make us any better than we are right now?
meloshouldgo @ 6/26/2015 9:12 PM
Draft Winslow? Isn't it obvious?

Thats what he said? How does SAS know that Winslow will be better than Porzingis? Many NBA teams obviously did not believe that.

franco12 @ 6/26/2015 9:22 PM
this is part of the melo discussion - where, if I understand it, SAS was functioning as Melo's bitch.
meloshouldgo @ 6/26/2015 9:54 PM
No he didn't "say" that. He insinuated it. He said this was a reach in the presence of far more NBA ready picks. He questioned how this could help Melo win now. Then he bitched and ranted about how Prozingis won't be ready for the next 2-3 years.

Winslow would be able to contribute right away. I am glad he is in Miami; Wade will definitely be a better mentor

RonRon @ 6/26/2015 10:03 PM
Miami actually has talent and a defensive core together, with SHOT BLOCKER WHITESIDE

Dragic
Wade
Luol Deng
Bosh
Whiteside

Chalmers/Napier
Winslow
James Ennis
McRoberts
Birdman

Tyler JOhnson
Haslem

MLE
and/or possible trades

They had a lot of injuries last year and if they can stay healthy this year, with some improvements, as well, good for them

Winslow's start for his career would be much better in Miami than coming to a Knick's franchise with our lack of talents/holes
Fitting right in a Riley scheme

Winslow could probably START with Wade likely to miss games as well, depending on how the others develop

meloshouldgo @ 6/26/2015 10:05 PM
I wanted Winslow as well. I think he would have complemented Melo better. As a potential franchise player the two weren't that much apart. But i have zero issues with Prozingis. I think the staying player issue was adequately addressed by drafting Grant. The knocks had a strong draft and i am happy with it.

I could care less if we win 42 instead of 33 games this year. I am only interested in acquiring the right tips of players going forward. Both thru the draft and FA.

Almost all draft boards projected Prozingis as a top 5 pick. I have more faith in that than a handful of myopic disgruntled fans who want to sit here and bitch about everything Phil does.

Agree. Also, Grant is more talented then Tim and he is a leader/high character guy.

SAS just got a call from Melo as he tweeted Melo "has not asked to be traded"

We know he is a leader and high character guy. The odds are pretty good that he is a better player.

From realgm hawks forum,
What the pundits are saying:

USATODAY:

29. Atlanta Hawks: If the Hawks weren't trying to save money, their trade of the No. 15 pick for Tim Hardaway Jr. would be one dumb move. Well, it's still dumb. Grade: F.

ESPN Regular:

[The Hawks] value length and proficiency on the wings. At 6-foot-6, Hardaway has plenty of the former, but he used it to little effect in New York, where he was a defensive train wreck. He finished 94th out of 100 qualified shooting guards in defensive plus-minus. About that shooting ... He dropped from 36.3 percent in his rookie season from beyond the arc to 34.2. He didn't exactly make up for it from mid-range, nor does he get the line at a good clip. The Hawks clearly see value -- he'll earn $1.3 million in 2015-16, less than the No. 15 pick would've earned -- and potential that will bolster their depth on the perimeter. Thumbs Down -- Kevin Arnovitz

ESPN Insider:
The trade for Tim Hardaway Jr. may help the Hawks if they can't keep DeMarre Carroll this summer, but passing on a wealth of prospects with potential seems like a missed opportunity. That helped earn Atlanta a C-minus from Chad Ford

That team might be better without Wade

And one of those teams was probably Detroit, which didn't even believe Winslow was better than Stanley Johnson, who in many ways is the same player as Justice. (They made a mistake, though- should have taken Winslow)

I don't know. Johnson is taller, has a longer wing span, hits the three at a slightly higher rate I believe and is heavier/more muscular. SVG went for the guy he thought was the better prospect. A lot of teams passed on Winslow.
jbeachboy @ 6/26/2015 11:34 PM
they said winslow would get in melos way cause winslow would have to play 2 guard when he had to play against 3 and 4s in college and wouldnt have to do that in miami

We dont know that yet.

Grant see's the floor BRILLIANTLY. The guy is from another planet as far as how he NOT ONLY gets the ball to the open man, but he finds the BEST positioned open man to get the ball to.
Look at his teams offensive efficiency with him in vs. out. (They went like 8-16 or the like after he was on academic probation). 3:1 assist to turnover ratio.
Tim just plain doesn't see the floor. We got to witness that for a few years. In the open court, Tim can be a good scorer, just not a fit in the triangle imo.

Grant can shoot it well, not great from 3, which he fell off as a senior (oddly enough.) But looking at their college numbers, Grant shot better than Timmy.

Defensively, Grant plays good defense and is quick enough to probably be a very good defender at the next level. Do I even have to bring up Timmy and defense?

Honestly, Grant is better at just about everything than Timmy. I'd go far as to say, just as a SG, I would take him over Timmy (in the triangle).

Intelligence? Grant is leaps and bounds above Timmy.

Timmy wasn't wanted here anymore, didn't fit the system and I wish him well. Always liked the kid but he was a bit frustrating to watch, though he had heart (as does Grant).

I am ecstatic with the pick of Grant. I think it was a good "sacrifice" going for the ready now PG and taking Porzingis who will only be able to partially help out.
I am still shocked at how we grabbed those 2nd and 3rd picks with ease.
