Knicks · Carmelo "can't wait" to play with ZINGER, calls him a "steal" (page 1)

sounds like Melo was drunk-commenting on Instagram last night

http://espn.go.com/blog/new-york-knicks/...

On Friday night, Anthony took to Instagram to offer his opinion on Porzingis in an interesting, unfiltered give-and-take with his fans.

One user wrote on Anthony’s page that he “can’t wait” to watch Porzingis this season.

Anthony replied, “I can’t wait either. He’s a steal.”

Another user wrote that Anthony should “stop the drama” and that he was “too old to be throwing temper tantrums” about Porzingis.

Anthony replied, “DRAMA? there’s no drama. Why would there be? Yall will learn soon enough.”

Porzingis wasn’t the only topic Anthony addressed on Friday night. He also responded to fans who questioned his fit in the triangle offense and his $124 million contract.

“How about you forget about Iso melo and enter the triangle !! Team ball bruh !!” the user wrote.

Anthony’s response? “you wouldn’t know the triangle if it was right there in front of you.”

Perhaps the most interesting give and take was centered on a criticism of Anthony’s decision to sign a $124 million contract with the New York Knicks.

The user wrote, “you got 124 million reasons to like n support any decision the Knicks make. You wanted to win you would’ve signed w/ ChiTown but you wanted every last dollar. So you don’t wanna be here, please waive your no trade clause n Phil can get you on your way. It’s about the name on the front of the jersey, not the name … excuse me, the “brand” on the back.”

Anthony’s response?

“let me tell you something sir!!!! You have no clue what the hell you talking bout. I never made an excuse about anything in my life and I damn sure not about to now. Your made at the wrong person or thing in life. Channel your anger and frustration elsewhere. Not over this way. If your mad at the money I make, then so be it. Don’t look like that’s going to change. So either, love it or hate it. I can care less. I’m here for my team, my family, and my fans (obviously, not you). Your name is preznyc, so I’m assuming your from ny. Instead of being so negative, why don’t you support. Your opinion doesn’t matter to me. What you think of me doesn’t make or break. At the end of the day, I’m a NYKNICK. You either like it or not. I’m gonna do me regardless. #StayMe7o”

Nothing too bad there but I wish he would stay off social media.

agreed. hard to see the upside engaging with fans who say you are overpaid. just let it be melo, you're 30. act like a grown up.

Actually, he's 31... that's even more grown up.

actually I thought they were pretty solid responses. Fans asked him the dirty questions and his responses appropriate, if he's to engage at all.

The stuff on KP is spot on also, even if he's not being honest. I think with all the mud being thrown around it was smart for him to clear the air a bit

I thought Melo was making sense in his responses. I wish he would make a gesture to reach out to his new teammates in a public way. That would go a long way towards killing this negative story.

yep, agreed. though now that the story is out there, people would of course just accuse Melo of trying to bury the story. he's in a tough spot. but he or someone on his agency/marketing/staff probably put him there.

"Can't wait to play with Porzingis" can be taken several different ways, especially coming from a 31 yr old basketball star who feels he only has a few years left.

I'm pretty sure Melo saw his size, agility and great shooting ability in his workout for the Knicks. KP is very impressive looking at him work out. I can't imagine he was not impressed with the kid. I think he may be better early on than expected. I was comparing him with Giannis who is also skinny and tall. thing is that KP has more offensive skills and can shoot it much better than Giannis.

Then we got a great guard for our team in Jerian. I think he's a great fit for how we want our scoring guard to play. We really got great value out of this 1st round.

Not sure I can read into that any other way than the generic response most guys give about new teammates.

Some decent stuff from Melo. That could have gone bad in a hurry.

What do you expect melo to say? He isnt gonna say he hates the pick to the public, it doesnt prove he likes it
Ira @ 6/27/2015 12:21 PM
He handled it as well as can be expected.

Him or his publicist did a good job.

You know what you should think about, none of the media reports actually said melo told them anything, they all stated a source or a friend in his "suppose" inner circle. now that he has officially come out and you here it from the horses mouth, your questioning it...

He could have easily stated that KP wouldn't have been his personal first option, but he believes in phil and the staff, so will see

I just can't believe he would trash the pick and phil, and expect to have FA sign here

im not defending melo. Truthfully i was kinda hoping for a sign and trade last year but we all knew he would take money before immediate winning. Phil is doing the right thing building through the draft. If melo doesnt like it we will gladly unload his contract and stockpile more picks
GustavBahler @ 6/27/2015 1:50 PM
Maybe someone sent Melo a youtube video of this Porzingis dunk fest. Grant to Porzingis next season, cant wait.

I'm not defending him, i'm just saying the obvious. I don't think were building through the draft,J grant just happens to be a much better option then THJ, who is as one dimensional as they come.

Melo agree's he also "Can't wait" but fan said "To watch". Maybe Melo means he'll be anxious to watch him play, but (Im nit pickingly having fun) maybe its from another franchise view?

Melo should stay off the social media. His response to the money was sort of Dolan like but not nearly as sharp!

Cartman718 @ 6/27/2015 1:53 PM
what carmelo meant to say was.... "i can't wait that long either. y'all should have drafted someone who's ready to play 40 mins now"

I think he spoke very well on those responses. It will immediately put and end to all this noise about him not liking the pick and people tearing apart rumors. It doesn't matter if he likes it or not, but he took the correct public position.

well i agree not all through the draft im sure free agency will be important. I meant phil isnt afraid to draft kids with high ceilings who may take 2 years
