Knicks · Change The Culture: Trade Melo (page 1)

misterearl @ 6/27/2015 2:26 PM
For my beloved Knicks to move forward, all catering to Anthony's personal whims and opinion must stop and it must stop immediately. The press is ready to pounce on his every gesture, and turn the whispers into shouts, just to sell newspapers. It is a formula for distraction to the fans, an more important, the players, who are confused about roles.

Tony Kornheiser is right. If Melo wanted to win he should have signed with Chicago. To say it ws not about the money, when it was, is dishonest, at best. The problem is Uncle Phil's to paint over, cover up or eliminate altogether.

Who really wants this same discussion into training camp? Trade him.

holfresh @ 6/27/2015 2:32 PM
Has to be done...Phil is wavering..

One thing is that you are not being fair saying catering to Melo's whims..
Phil made a choice..Be a man ans say we are moving on..Melo lets help get you to a contender...No need to disparage Melo..
TPercy @ 6/27/2015 2:36 PM
Common Phil
Sign and Trade Melo for Milsap and their 2016 1st round pick. Or Sign and trade Melo for Butler and a 1st.
I would love a Grant and Butler back court.
Uptown @ 6/27/2015 2:37 PM
I don't necessarily disagree about perhaps moving him, but he may have been misrepresented Isola and the likes...While their reports say, people around Melo didn't like the pick, Melo says out of his on mouth (or his own keyboard) that he thought the Zinger was a steal and he "Can't wait to play with him."
meloshouldgo @ 6/27/2015 2:37 PM
I wish we had never signed him a second time. Completely wrong move.
BRIGGS @ 6/27/2015 2:40 PM
Im inclined to keep Melo for one last chance. I can't believe he stuck Phil under the bus yesterday it was incredibly immature. Just like a family u keep problems in house and work it out and he showed no loyalty to a team that has gone out of its way for him. ThAt being said the east is weak and if melo can be a team player and help do his thing at the bottom line he is still a superior offensive player. It's also in the Knicks best interests to see him play good healthy ball again in case the decision needs to be made to go in a different direction
StarksEwing1 @ 6/27/2015 2:44 PM
Melo is starting to remind me of marbury. Both terrific offensive talents with limitations in the other areas. Both havent been successful in postseason. Id love to trade but that contract might be tough to move

holfresh - not trying to disparage Melo in any way. He is who he is. This is not about his supreme athletic ability. This is about the sideshow that detracts from a young team finding its own voice, without the background noise.

It may sound harsh or unfair, but is is an unflinching look at how this franchise needs to clear the air and how Phil MUST fulfill his stated mission to "change the culture."

Trade Melo now.

It doesn't have anything to do with message boards non sense..If folks get caught up in that stuff, more power to them..If you are building a Championship you have to be all in..Phil is hedging right now..He brought in a kid that can't help Melo if a team was to be built around him...If this kid is a few years away then do what Philly is doing..Forget about free agents and add young pieces and picks..You can't built two parallel teams...

You and I have zero proof in terms of what was said or who said it..None..The sideshow was created by the media..If you are pointing fingers without any proof, it's irresponsible...If you want to move on then just do so...Don't make up excuses...

We weren't winning a championship with either mudiay or Winslow and if anyone thinks we were ur foolin yourself this is a multi year process

The fact remains that you can't build two teams..One for today and one for five years from now...

I suspect when Phil was hired he said "I want total control" and Dolan countered with "You can have it once Anthony is resigned". I'm pretty positive that was the deal.

Thats false....the spurs have been doing it for years. Times have changed and its time to catch up. Zinger is the perfect example of the here and now with franchise potential later. Zinger will impact now by spreading the floor and providing some length on the perimeter with shot blocking and rim protection.

What has the Spurs been doing for years??..Before you go on..Tim Duncan is 39, Manu is 37 and Tony Parker is 33...Melo is 31 and the Zinger is 19...

When Tony Parker joined the team at age 19, Tim Duncan was 25...Manu joined at 24, Tony was 20 and Tim was 26...

Wasn't it amazing how the "fans" booed, cried and gnashed their teeth as if the savior was siting on the board, just one pick away
