Knicks · Watching Zinger highlights for the first time. (page 1)

The big thing that stands out to me that had me is aww was his mobility put together with his ability to shoot. His off the ball game is pretty damn good. You put a big man on him who has to chase him around through screens which he can free himself up to knock down jumpers or back door. Were talking about a 7'1 dude who likes to move around and nail down jumpers. Not just stand still and spot up shoot.

You put Sfs on him and he is shooting over them, you put bigs on him and they arent going to be able to keep up all game chasing him around in and out of the paint.

Fisher could really create a match-up nightmare by having him in constant movement as if he was a wing.

TPercy @ 6/27/2015 7:35 PM
When he puts on the strength, he can be deadly in the post aswell.

Yea but his ability to constantly move, come off screens, catch and shoot at 7'1 would make him unique throughout the NBA. Could be his nitch which he could then expand.

Oh yes, he can Zinger has serious potential to be an unguarable player in the NBA. He has got potential as a defender as well but that depends on his weight gain.

I also went and looked at a lot of his game videos and i'm really impressed. He moves great! He isn't just standing around. Despite being so slim he actually plays with a lot of scrappiness. His posting is smart since he doesn't let guys just bend him over. He just sticks those long arms out and puts his fore arm in the defenders chest and creates space. I had a lot of fear that he wouldn't be able to post but I actually think he'll be OK against a lot of the SF and PF's who aren't really physical.

I think Phil really did the right thing here. I wanted WCS for his defense but KP might be developed into a solid help defender. He's so long and quick like WCS. He not as Agile but he has good lateral quickness. I actually don't know if I want him to get too heavy. If he can just get stronger and get up another 10-15 pounds that might be the best thing. Let him stay quick and athletic. For once we might have caught a big break falling to #4.

Couldnt agree more. Imagine if we had a slightly matured KP in the Pacers series in that 54 win season. The thought of Hibbert running after KP is almost comical. I am definitely excited about this dood.

eye opening and once in a lifetime experience, ! project yes in certain areas, but high potential!

Thanks for posting. It's nice to see him in actual games. I never put much stock in workout videos.

Thanks, been trying to find full game highlights for sometime.

Watched 2 of the game recaps posted in this thread (thanks Nix). Have to say that Porzingis's ability to catch and shoot is very Dirk like. He doesnt look to be afraid of contact. I agree with the OP that Porzingis moves great without the ball, smart player. The form on his jump shot is pretty fluid for someone so tall. Im confident that Porzingis's lateral quickness will speed his transition to becoming a better defender.

Most of these qualities Bargs has yet to show and Porzingis is just 19.

I like his constant motion. He doesn't let defenders hold and grab him by just staying in motion. When he does post up smaller players he does a good job of getting a good base and holding them off as he catches the ball over the top. I can see what they saw in him. It's still raw but you can see the talent already. This guy with more strength is gonna be a beast. I don't even want him getting heavy. Just get stronger and little heavier but not massive. He needs to keep his quickness and athletic ability.

The most amazing thing I have seen from some of the highlights so far is him running off screens like Ray Allen and hitting the 3 after. What big 4 or 5 will be able to chase him off screens? If this kid can reach his potential it could be a game changer.

Not that I knew enough about him but I was wrong. I thought WCS would be the best option cuz I thought this kid was a skinny pushover. He doesn't avoid contact as much as people said. He's just really good moving, so why waste that kind of talent? His release is quick and high. I can't wait to see him in Summer League.

Just get this kid on a nutrition and weight lifting regimen and let him play. KP and Jerian should make a great PnR tandem!!!

jbeachboy @ 6/27/2015 10:54 PM
has serious durant and dirk potential if he puts work in weight room and gym
PhilinLA @ 6/27/2015 11:09 PM
KP is a very unusual combination of things, and if he can get stronger -- watch out.
BRIGGS @ 6/27/2015 11:37 PM
3 pounds of chicken and fish daily with veggies

Creatine and vitamin
supplements

Day 1
Bench press 3 sets of 5
Power clean. 3 sets of 6
Lat pull down 3 sets of 8
Day 2
Deadlift 3 sets of 6
Squats 3 sets of 6
Leg press 3 sets of 5
Day. 3
Yoga *30minutes
Stretching 30 minutes
Abs 15 minutes
Day 4 rest
Repeat lots of sleep
In 6 months he would weigh 250 pounds and gain explosion

This is just one regimen and somewhat old school. But the Knicks should have Porzingis go through the same regimen that gûs like Stein towns rozier etc sent through before draft

Getting stronger is just a matter of hard work and desire along with great nutrition. I fully expect him to at least gain functional strength. I don't even think he should gain a lot of weight just to get big. He should stay relative slim so that he can maintain his quickness. After watching him I think his game is gonna be more Dirk than Pau. I think he could be a Camby like defender as well down the line. He's got to learn team D but he has the length and athletic ability.

FistOfOakley @ 6/27/2015 11:58 PM
i don't think he needs to get that much bigger... he just needs to get a lot tougher and stronger... a lot of the super tall guys have seen a ton of injuries so i'd worry if he got to be over 250...

yao ming, ilgauskas, smits, sabonis, mark eaton, ralph sampson all had issues with their lower bodies... and all except for sampson was heavy... he's a little shorter than all of them so he's not doomed...

if he can stay in the 230-240 range i'd be more optimistic about his long term health...

he just needs to get a lot stronger and tougher.. his core looks very weak so a lot of body weight exercises like yoga with some lifting mixed in would do him good... you can survive as a skinny guy if you know how to mix it up in the paint... guys like bosh, anthony davis and garnett are really good at positioning themselves and going after the ball... he's just not very experienced or good at that yet...

i'm not sure how good he'll ever be at rebounding but i don't think adding 30lbs is the answer...

This is a blessing in disguise. Never really see Dirk attack the rim like our guy. I bet such an attitude is catching. I can see Prozingis as a positive influence on Bargs, sort of a domino effect.

This is why I don't understand the complaints. Everybody is saying he's 2-3 years away....away from what? Being a superstar? Yes.....But he will contribute next year with this catch and shoot jumper alone. And I believe after the All Star break, he will be a legit option as a small ball lineup, with him at the 5 and Melo at the 4.

He has the right attitude and personality to make it in NY. And I think current Knick fans are more patient than in the past, which is going to help KP's growth. I'm not worried about him, he will be an impact player on both ends in the near future.

But I am worried about over paying Monroe. And how can we add West and Carrol (or some SG / SF) which is the position we need to fill. I like west because he reminds me of the 90's knicks and pacers with Dale Davis and Charles Oakley. We need that veteran leadership more than you think, even at 35 yrs old. You see what Kmart and Camby did for this team. Melo needs vets around him to make him a complete player. I do like Monroe's age, but not sure he's worth soaking up our cap, even with the cap increase next year. I just never been a fan of his, but unfortunately he might be our only option at center, as far as big names.

Personally, I'll take a roll player at center.....When you have a 7'3 PF in the game, he's going to make people think twice about going to the hole.....All guards will be looking for that flying bird coming from behind. That hesitation will be enough for any average center or guard to catchup and play defense. We just need a passing big who can hit a jumper or two and a few free throws. Don't need a superstar.
