Where'd you see the $6-7m number from? Just curious. Didn't see that.

PhilinLA @ 6/29/2015 9:12 PM
This would be a great get.

Would love to take a shot at Nemanja....haven't heard his name in awhile but he has been one of the best guys out there internationally and his skillset seems perfect for the triangle.

Glad to hear Phil and company are doing their due diligence.

Is this where it came from?

Not sure but I think David Pick was they guy that broke the news that Hackett was working out for the Knicks.

That's essentially what I took away from yet another rumor. I'm used to FA's attaching their names to the Knicks to increase market value, but the Knicks are all over the rumor board this year. I have my doubts on who we actually walk away with, but I'm excited that we'll at least be active and not placing all of our eggs in a single basket.

Seems like someone wants him to force his way over to NYK's
Not sure if that is leverage from his agent, himself, or from Knick's...

Mills said that the Knicks were very serious about Euro players who they could sign. It's a good alternative to some of the US FA's who may be resistant to coming here. The Euro's won't care about our record last year.

Boban Marjanovic
7-3 - 270pds
26 years of age

A Euro Center that is has said he wants to come over this year
HIGH IQ and reminds me of Yao Ming, good for about 15-25minutes a game
Able to score in mid post and DEEP POST, would set a NICE screen to free some smaller guys up, though we used less PnR, in general, it is a play that has to be considered to be used more, especially as KP develops with our PG's that can shoot along/penetrate/throw lobs with shooters to space floor

He was someone I posted in the free agents list with the 3 League talents we must pick up

I am serious about Lampe, I really would not mind him returning to The Knick's, he is a solid European Vet and has filled out nicely and could be a backup Center
If we go FULL EURO that is...

Brilliant idea. I'd do that to save thr picks.

Isn't Calderone deal now at 2 years left?
I don't see them taking Jose unless they are moving Rubio.
Pek gives them size while Towns develops and does the heavy lifting.

They have Deing though who is ready to break out.

The Euro players probably won't command huge dollars at the moment either. So there contacts if added today could be at top value over the next 2 yrs. While NBA vets will look to command around 12 mil. If we could get a guy like Bjelica for the same deal type of deal Mirotic got...

You guys don't think that they can do slightly better than Calderon for Pekovic?

Yeah, Pek has value around the league. Also, KG is almost 40 and Towns is not yet 20. I think they'll keep Pek to give their frontline some continuity.

crzymdups wrote:Nemanja Bjelica is ready to make the jump to the NBA, Minessota has his rights, but the New York Knicks are pursuing him and hope to get him via a sign and trade deal.

According to Eurohoops sources, the Euroleague MVP has already decided to continue his career in the NBA. He has to sign his new contract until the 10th of July, the date his opt out clause in the contract with Fenerbahce/ Ulker expires. Bjelica has been in contact for a long time with the Timberwolves, however now the Knicks entered the picture.

Bjelica is a unique case and his passing ability makes him a great fit for the triangle offense. That’s probably why the Knicks are really interested on him and they seem willing to offer him a better deal than the one he alreadt has on the table from Minessota. It remains to be seen what Minessota will decide, since the Timberwolves also want the Serbian Forward and Euroleague MVP of the season on their roster for next season. What’s also evident – for quite some time – is that Fenerbahce is losing him and the Turkish club is already searching for the player who will replace him.

Im trying to figure out why Minnesota would sign and trade him to the Knicks....unless they could also get rid of Bennett

I would love to have the Timberwolves young roster. We will never see anything like that

Normally I would say this has no chance of happening but the wolves are almost maxed out, they have to still re-sign KG, and have a lot of depth at PF. I don't know if flip wants to sign another PF to around 7 a year. So I could see a trade happening where the knicks absorb Anthony Bennett's 5 million contract (that has a team option next year so its an expiring) and Bjelica's draft rights.

dwiley20 @ 6/30/2015 10:20 AM
what do we have to offer besides cap space??

dwiley20 wrote:what do we have to offer besides cap space??

We could absorb Bennett for them see if we can increase his value here--taking 5mm off their cap with the 2 2's we we received last year. We can also trade a lottery restricted #1 pick. It all depends on how much the Knicks like this player.

They would also like to dump Budinger's salary

That's another expiring. Honestly if Bjelica doesn't want to come over unless its for more money than the Twolves want to spent. A salary dump and a future second isn't a bad haul for him.
