That's another expiring. Honestly if Bjelica doesn't want to come over unless its for more money than the Twolves want to spent. A salary dump and a future second isn't a bad haul for him.

We could absorb Bennett for them see if we can increase his value here--taking 5mm off their cap with the 2 2's we we received last year. We can also trade a lottery restricted #1 pick. It all depends on how much the Knicks like this player.
I hope the Knicks get creative like this to build assets, and not just be in a rush to hand over all their cap space. I would have no problem absorbing a bad contract for a year if it returns a couple picks. Why can't we take on Jared Jeffries instead of always being the team trading him away

Brilliant idea. I'd do that to save thr picks.
You guys don't think that they can do slightly better than Calderon for Pekovic?
Normally I would say this has no chance of happening but the wolves are almost maxed out, they have to still re-sign KG, and have a lot of depth at PF. I don't know if flip wants to sign another PF to around 7 a year. So I could see a trade happening where the knicks absorb Anthony Bennett's 5 million contract (that has a team option next year so its an expiring) and Bjelica's draft rights.
Minny is down for $56 M for next year, and that does not include Garnett, Towns, and Jones.
Bennett is at $5.8M, and Buddinger is at $5M, and both could be removed from your payroll next year.
My opinion is that I don't think Minny would want Calderon, and I don't think Jackson would want Pekovic.
If the Knicks really like Nemanja, and could work out a decent contract with him, I could see taking either Buddinger/Bennett as a pretty good idea.
Buddinger would be the more serviceable player, IMO.
Wonder if we sign Lopez if we go this route?
The buyout was offical so he is heading over and he no longer has leverage over Twolves, I read he was reading to sign with them
So it was probably rumors that NYK's leaked out so his agent can push to come to New York

Minnesota is overloaded up front
C Dieng Perovic
PF Towns KG Payne Bennett
Where do you play this guy?
Seems like he would be limited in minutes--I think would get more time and money here.
This is the HoopsRumors timeline they have for him and Minnesota over the past week:
July 1st at 4:34am CST by Chuck Myron
WEDNESDAY, 4:34am: Bjelica has officially opted out of his deal with Fenerbahce Ulker, Pick reports (Twitter link).SUNDAY, 7:44pm: Saunders said the Wolves will bring Bjelica over in time for next season, ESPN.com’s Marc Stein tweets.
SATURDAY, 10:05am: Bjelica is in serious discussions with the Timberwolves on a three-year, $12MM-plus deal, but the two sides have been exploring all options, Shams Charania of RealGM.com reports. There is active trade interest around the NBA for the Serbian forward as well, Charania adds.
FRIDAY, 11:53am: The Timberwolves are close to an agreement with draft-and-stash prospect Nemanja Bjelica, reports Jon Krawczynski of The Associated Press (Twitter link). Minnesota couldn’t formally sign the Euroleague MVP until after the July Moratorium, as long as he’s signing for more than the minimum, which will presumably be the case.
Bjelica has sought a “serious offer” of between $5MM and $7MM per season, as David Pick of Eurobasket.com reported this spring. The Timberwolves are unlikely to have the capacity to give him more than the $5.434MM mid-level exception, though speculation has suggested that Minnesota wouldn’t be willing to go that high. Still, the sides have seemingly held mutual interest in a deal.
The Wolves acquired the power forward’s NBA rights from the Wizards in 2010 one year after Washington drafted him 35th overall. Bjelica, already 27, averaged 11.5 points and 8.2 rebounds in 26.1 minutes per game this season for Turkey’s Fenerbahce Ulker.
Signed a 3 yr deal with the wolves. Can't copy the tweet on my phone.

Why you gotta bring the bad news after I just started researching this guy

He has to sign his new contract until the 10th of July, the date his opt out clause in the contract with Fenerbahce/ Ulker expires. Bjelica has been in contact for a long time with the Timberwolves, however now the Knicks entered the picture.
Bjelica is a unique case and his passing ability makes him a great fit for the triangle offense. That’s probably why the Knicks are really interested on him and they seem willing to offer him a better deal than the one he alreadt has on the table from Minessota. It remains to be seen what Minessota will decide, since the Timberwolves also want the Serbian Forward and Euroleague MVP of the season on their roster for next season. What’s also evident – for quite some time – is that Fenerbahce is losing him and the Turkish club is already searching for the player who will replace him.

Im trying to figure out why Minnesota would sign and trade him to the Knicks....unless they could also get rid of Bennett
You took the words right out of my mouth, the fact that minny has his rights, and he' not on their roster is baffling. He definitely looks legit
