Broussard just said it on espn. This is not looking good at all. The Knicks better make a move real dang soon.
4 years $60mil.
Looking like we're down to: Monroe, Afflololololo and other mediocrities
4years - 60MM
The NBA has gone crazy.
Remember the Lakers free agency crash and burn last summer? I have a feeling that's what ours is gonna look like. Apparently giving away all our best players for nothing and then drafting a project wasn't the best strategy to attract free agents.

The cap is doubling in two years. $15M is a bargain

So you would of signed Carroll to that contract if you were the Knicks?? That's ridiculous.

New york--what do w do if we strike out--trade melo? Its almost unfair at this point to both Melo and the Knicks if we get stuck taking secondary crp in.

What's ridiculous is thinking Carroll would take that contract from us. That contract is basically the new MLE.

I would trade Melo. Will be hard to find a market for him before the trade deadline though.

Yeah i think if we strike out and Melo would agree to it then we might as well trade him if we get the right offer. The contracts that are being given out right now are too much for us to even match if we wanna build this team the right way. Milsap 4 years 80 million and Carroll 4 years 60 miilion. We can't give out contracts like that with the position we're in right now. This is getting me very nervous right now.

What are you talking about?? If we offered him that same contract he would of chosen us.
The upside to striking out is that you end up being the only team with space when the salary scale doubles to match the cap. Plan A should be get Monroe, then 1-year deals to hang onto the space.
That's way more than I would've paid for Carroll and I liked him. The Knicks still have options even if they aren't sexy options. No need to panic. You just make smart moves and hold on to some cap space if you strike out. There are some good low end players like Ajinca and R Lopez and some Euro players they could also go after. You still have a shot at Tobias Harris as well.

I mean dude, the contracts were going to be ridiculous, thats why i'm confused with all this bargin talk, and not over paying..we won't sign anyone with the pay cut talk. Either put up or kick rocks

The Raptors won the division last year. We won 17 games. Why would he choose NY again?

Use the cap space to take on salary for picks- it's not the end of the world. Thats where we went wrong in 2010, by panicking and signing Amar'e
These contracts are fucking insane. TV money, cap doubling? guys are getting 1MM per point!
Carrol is a very solid role player that's it. To put in perspective, Russell Westbrook made 16.7MM last season, Curry, 12MM, Horford 12MM
Lock out will be happening soon.

Rolo and T.Harris wouldn't be a bad free agency and we might still be able to add a P.Beverley to that.

Maybe not, but it WAS the best strategy for rebuilding the Knicks. Starting to look like that was the plan all along. Next step: Melo will request a trade. We will get at least one 2016 first rounder, additional picks, some vet players. Hopefully, this is already in the works.
