Free agent Greg Monroe will sign a maximum contract with the Milwaukee Bucks, league source tells Yahoo Sports.
Not good. It better be because Phil has a better plan.
Ughhhh
There goes the giddiness
OK...no problem. Get Lopez and another solid big that can defend and rebound. KP gets to play more. This will work out great.
Very happy about Afflalo but missing GM is a big miss. We aren't getting DJ or LMA. So much for free agency.

see? Keep it in check
Sigh.
I was never really too excited about this guy, he just seemed like he'd be a solid 18ppg scorer in the Triangle.
I think we can build a better defensive squad without him though.
First choice would be to just sign DeAndre Jordan.
Second choice - maybe Robin Lopez and Derrick Williams and still have some room for other pieces?
Third choice would be Tobias Harris, but then we would have zero pressence in the middle.
It's not the end of the world if this happens. Knicks still have options. There are plenty of bigs still left on the board.
OUch. Thought Monroe would be great in the triangle.
This is devastating. Get us Derrick Williams now. Fly out and bring him here
They are saying Phil never offered him the max. Hopefully it's because he has a bigger plan.
Get Lopez and see about that TWolves Euro. Add Williams on the cheap if Phil really wants him.
Lopez gets to be in same town as his brother... lots of marketing potential for both of them there, and he is a solid player.

Well either Phil is gonna pull off a miracle and sign one of LMA/Jordan and he informed G.Monroe of this which is why he signed with the Bucks or Monroe just got smart and realized it's a much better situation for him in Milwaukee?? Hopefully it's option 1 and Phil shuts every New York Media guys mouths.
Can kill Phil on this one. If he offered him less, maybe because that is what he thought he was worth. Phil does like guys who can defend
I had serious misgivings about Monroe's defense. I was never thrilled about him, it just seemed like the biggest name we could get. In hindsight, I'm glad we aren't tying ourselves to this guy.
I look at Monroe and question whether he enjoys the game. He's a good player, but I never once was excited about him.
Moving on.
I would make a big push for Robin Lopez and Derrick Williams NOW.
Apparently the Knicks didn't offer Monroe the max.

I would be happy with that
I really wanted Monroe. But the counter plan to this actually got me thinking it is better than plan A. Instead of Monroe-Jordan-Melo, Max out Jordan/Or grab a guy like Lopez, and instead of putting Melo at SF put him at PF. Turn around and sign a guy like Matthews. Now you have Matthews-Melo-Jordan/Lopez. To me much better balance.

Yeah I agree. Seems like Phil has his price for each FA and he's sticking to it. Monroe may have wanted more than Phil had him valued.

The thought of Lopez lumbering around the floor of Madison Square Garden is nauseating to me. I want nothing to do with the Lolez gene pool. All these years and we still don't have someone who can get easy shots around the basket.
Ugh I'm disgusted
