Or maybe the fact that they have MCW Middleton Freak Parker while we have Melo. Unless you think that if we had a better team then the Bucks that Monroe would still choose the Bucks strictly to avoid playing with Melo even though Melo was on the roster this whole time while we were one of his top interest.
Logic vs Agenda
This. Also said he really likes Kidd.
I don't disagree. But it sounds like the Knicks tried to get cute in their presentation and it backfired.
I don't love Monroe one bit, so this doesn't bother me. But let's be real - if this many people are saying "that's weird, I heard the Knicks did not offer the max"... I feel like there is something to it. We have five different reporters saying Knicks didn't offer max. We have the agent and Berman saying he did.

Right. And this is already on top of knowing the few 'they asked him to take less' rumors which were circulating beforehand. All available info tells me the Knicks did not offer Greg Monroe the max. Mistake of the highest order if you ask me but time to move on now.

Honestly, I don't think Monroe was a difference maker here. He was never able to carry Detroit or anything. I'm not shedding too many tears over this one.
Frankly, I agree with Phil that he may not be a max player.
Milwaukee will be good next year, but I bet they have some troubles defending in the paint.

Agent David Falk says all four teams Greg Monroe met with offered the max. Chose Bucks due to better chance to "make playoffs immediately."[/img]
Listen I know MJ, Isiah, Phil all are accomplished folks with long resumes, but sometimes people are too smart for their own good, think they know better than everyone else and think they see something you don't.
All I know if Phil came in here and traded big for small, thought he did a great job shedding salary, came away with no assets and didn't get an impact player in the draft. Players and agents right or wrong perceived the Knicks as a joke of an organization a constant rebuilding team.
This owner is shit, treats the fans terrible and makes mind numbing moves year after year.
Somehow Pat Riley was able to get Dragic, Deng, Whiteside, Winslow in a years time. Somehow Jason Kidd convinced a young big he was better off with the Bucks than he was with the knicks? Explain that. I understand they have 3 nice young pieces and went to the playoffs, but you should be able to say that Melo has missed the playoffs once in his entire career, you PG had an off year, you have two rookies that will make an impact and you will be adding two veterans to the team and making a run and adding cap room and players
CrushAlot wrote:Both Hahn and Begley are saying that they heard Monroe was not offered the max from the Knicks.
Of course Monroe's agent would say the Knicks offered him the max.
He is $16mil max in this market. Not a $30mil max
And it's all about fit. Detroit is irelevant

Other sites reporting it also. He actually took less with the Bucks. Get off the sheet on Phil bandwagon.
"Greg Monroe was reportedly offered max-money from each team that he met with, but took a smaller deal with the Bucks as they presented him the best opportunity to make the playoffs immediately."
You can't make chicken salad from chicken sheet

I'm pretty sure Phil and his team made a competitive presentation. This isn't their 1st rodeo and Phil said it would be basketball specific. There's of course more to it than that. We went into this knowing we had very little talent on the roster to sell to FA's. There's nothing we could do about that.
Besides isn't this all a bit premature still? We don't know what the end result is yet. There's still a lot of options out there undecided. The Knicks haven't been shut out yet. Also it really isn't our concern what these other team's are doing. We can't control what other teams do. We can only control our own situation.
The bucks simply are in a better position than we are with the good young talent they have

Yep, it's not rocket science. He wanted to go to the most playoff ready team and he did. I don't know why people are making conspiracy theories about this.

It's not a conspiracy - the Knicks clearly had the pole position as of 12:01am July 1, 2015 and blew it. Don't know why it's so hard to acknowledge this.

What does this even mean? Those reports that it was a done deal were obviously wrong as usual. Monroe had an open mind in this process and clearly made his own decision. This just came down to the Bucks being closer to winning at this moment.

we dont know that it was a slam dunk to sign him. News outlets arent always right. Im sure monroe was very interested in talking to the knicks. However the bucks simply impressed him and he likes their young core. Im not defending the knicks because we have our own issues but im sure phil tried his best
Lol where was all this love for Monroe being a max player a few weeks ago. Monroe all of a sudden turned into a rock star on this board simply by passing on us.
There is still Tobias Harris. Though I would prefer the David Lee trade for an asset or 2
