we had 2016 picks. thats why i hate the bargnani deal. i blame EVERYTHING on him! lol. now theres a pressure to WIN NOW because we dont have picks. were learning that free agents dont want to be part of losing teams (if the money is close).

That lack of pick screwed any rebuilding strategy, however after this season we are finally free of first round pick debt and can actually properly rebuild

We need to be careful and stay away from bad long term deals, reserve cap space, and ideally we would shed assets that are going to decline in exchange for picks and younger players. Just because we don't have a pick in 2016 doesn't mean we can't work on rebuilding next year. I am concerned we will fall into the usual Knocks trap and give away our cap space and more picks for continued mediocrity.

the lack of a first round pick is a sunk cost - its gone, and we should not let it affect our thinking or strategy.

If it ends up in the Lottery, Dolan should be forced to be their rep on TV, and then he can just hand it over to Toronoto's owner on live, national TV.

Yep wake me up in 2017-18, maybe by then we will be a decent team

Phil actually has done a great job of bringing in prospects. We're not going to be in a bad spot going forward with young talent.

KP
Jerian
Gallo
Early
Willy
Thanasis
Ledo
Labeyrie
Wear

There's still a ton of upside in that bunch of young prospects. Just cuz some of us don't respect that upside doesn't mean that it's not there. We have yet to really see what these players will develop into. Some people assume we have nothing but that hasn't been determined yet. I'm sure Phil will acquire a pick for next year.

Agree with the OP. Not having our own picks really hurts our rebuilding process. Obviously phil wasnt here when the dumb bargs trade went down so it isnt his fault.

so true, especially if Denver BLOWS it up, as they likely could do with players that could help contenders right away

Wilson Chandler on a cap friendly deal as an expiring
Gallo for about 12m and expiring

Hickson/Foye as expirings, as they could bring in Nikole Jovic who they drafted last year and is compared to as a YOUNG Vucevic

With Lawson, he is likely gone and it would allow, Mudiay to develop with Will Barton and Garry Harris/Erick Green, they got a lot of great value for trading CA, Billups, Shelden Wiliams to us
Got 2 1st rounders for MoSGoV, 1 for Felton to Portland, and 1 more from Portland for Affalo

Just surround Mudiay with SHOOTERS and allow him to develop and make mistakes, if he can be the next John Wall or not...
