Im kinda digging these pickups, think they are gonna play really well together.

Porzingis- Hungry, hardworker, smart
Jerian Grant- excellent passer, hardworker, smart
Lopez- just gets the job done, hardworker, smart
Affalo- good shooter, defense, smart

The whole is greater than the sum of its parts.

I like your optimism and positivity

I said the same thing yesterday. This is the thing that Phil is cognizant of with teams. Sure you could have a bunch of stars but there's only one ball and you need players to be willing to do all the little things outside of scoring that make a team successful. When you have a team full of guys who think that way then you have a team that can be more productive than you would expect given the individual players.

This isn't a sexy roster but it's a very solid roster so far. There's just enough actual talent to lead to wins but the willingness to do the hard work is what will help this team get more wins. It's already a better looking defensive roster than last year IMO. Just having a team full of willing defenders will be a great improvement. The team size and length is solid so far and can get better.

2 seasons ago, the team played good basketball. Melo was there. That means he can be the best player on a successful team.
At that time, Chandler (at least during the regular season) was anchoring our defense. Shumpert provided good wing defense and the passing was great.
Felton(god rest his game) provided penetration and good pnr with chandler.

I'm not saying this year team could be as good but it could improve a lot.
ROLO and AA provide defense. Schved was going to the paint with ease last year.
As far as scoring we can expect at least:
ROLO : 8 ppg
Melo : 25 ppg
AA : 12 ppg
Gallo: 11 ppg

I'm not event counting our future PF or SF.
Our bench should be good with KP, Calderon, Grant, etc.

I think and hope that we'll be a 8/7 seed.

I don't mind this squad going into the season but there's questionmarks all over. I love Grant and Afflalo but Afflalo can be a bit up and down from year to year and Grant and Zinger are completely unproven. Plus I'm still very weary of how much pure triangle we run. Not to mention our bench is basically non existent at the moment. I like our staff and potential in a bad conference though. Not making any predictions yet.

This is still so far of a work in progress that, I just don't know.

The Monroe spurn was a blow because he would've given us a truly solid second voice to Melo as well as a scoring threat on the low post. While acquiring RoLo is good for our defense, it still leaves us as an incomplete team that, even with a system, has to center on Melo.

Im afraid of how much RoLo will cost, because we need a piece like Tobias Harris and we will probably have no money for that. And what will happen with Calderon? Is he really here to stay? It seems like they might look to move him, especially if they are so serious about Patrick Beverly.

I agree. I am not upset at all with this line up. I think part of it is because I wasn't impressed with this years FA Class. No game changers, imo, and all demanding big money.

Its a shame that D.West said what he said because I think he would have been a great fit next to R.Lopez.

Yup...

JACKSON: We know there are a limited number of guys we can bring in this year. We think we’ll get competitive guys to play. I think we’ll complement the guys we have here, and we’re going to move forward. We do know we’re going to have big guys in that group. We’re going to have to search out some big men.

Q: Do you anticipate players being resistant to the idea of running the triangle?

JACKSON: Players who are resistant to it shouldn’t be here. Guys who want to play basketball and feel comfortable with their skills should understand that there is ample opportunity to play a game that’s an evolved game. It’s a thinking man’s game. It’s a logical game.

JACKSON: We’re trying to find players who are the best fit for us. We’re really chasing as much information as we can. We’re not interested in guys who are just interested in the money and in their branding. They have to have a little more to their life than just those selfish desires..

You say the same thing everyday, lol. And unfortunately, you're starting to make me into a believer, lol.

I know he was a good leader and mentor, but I remember when Kidd was our big FA "splash". We could've walked away with nothing here. We had a good draft and solid free agency so far, but it doesn't mean it will translate into wins. I do feel that in a parallel universe our starting lineup is Calderon, Hardaway, Melo, Jordan Hill, and Bargnani lol so it could be worse

For the first time in a decade our management is not acting desperate and that is also important to let teams know that going into the future with this organization.
