Knicks · Team is best with Melo as Starting 4 (page 1)

BRIGGS @ 7/3/2015 2:44 PM
Its pretty simple--weve seen the results. Melo is a tough match up at 4 but we need a 3 who is big enough to slide in and out with him for D.
dwiley20 @ 7/3/2015 2:48 PM
OF Course because he cant contain/Defend anybody at the Wing position..Liability
crzymdups @ 7/3/2015 2:53 PM
With how much the rest of the league plays small, Melo is a total liability on the wing.

Being at the 4 will actually extend his career. Hope he realizes that.

No it doesn't..LeBron doesn't want to play the 4 consistently because of the constant interior banging...All the banging, grabbing, tugging out shoulders when he already have a bad one...He will more than like play a little bit of both but more SF..

If the Knicks add Bass or if they add Derrick Williams and he remembers how to play both of those guys can play the 4.

Washington wants to move Nene to make room for West..We could do it after we sign all our FA..Send them Calderon...

I think it's hilarious, but one player, assuming he's healthy and he's not too heavy at this time in his career, who might not be a bad fit at the 3 if Anthony plays at the 4, is a player some hate, and others love...Danilo Gallinari.

Not sure if the foreign player linked to Minny who some have talked about can play at the 3, but you would want a guy with some length if Anthony was to be at the 4- maybe a guy you could flip-flop with him every now and then.

I don't think anyone hates Gallinari, I know some hate the Gallo love fest. He would be a great pick up if the price was right. So would Nene. Knicks could have a bump and thump line up with Nene and Robin/Cole.

With rumors out there that we're meeting with Derrick Williams and Corey Brewer (I actually wouldn't mind signing both guys--one was a tremendous college player that could still bust out in a big way and the other is a skilled 2-way player that specializes in defense) they don't appear to be sold on Early--if that's the case, I wouldn't blame them. Neither am I. Not really sold on Thanasis either...

Both Brewer & Williams are skilled enough and roughly the right size/height to play some 3, which could allow Melo to slide over and play some 4. Not sure how I feel about Melo playing against 4s though. We've talkied about this before--on offense, there's a mismatch in his favor but then who handles a big/bruising 4-man down low, esp. if whatever team were playing also comes at us big with a decent 5 man that needs to be dealt with as well? I don't know about Melo playing inside on a steady basis--I think his body might hold up better over the long haul just playing his skill game in the mid-range. Playing some 4 isn't out of the question though.

And what do moves for Jerian Grant in the draft, Afflalo, possibly Corey Brewer, maybe a SL addition like Mo N'Dour, mean for Alexey Shved? I'd really like to resign that dude..

crzymdups @ 7/3/2015 4:48 PM
I don't think we can get both Brewer and Williams. Williams is at least $6m per. Brewer may be $8-10m in this climate. Getting either one would be nice though.

He's actually better at defending small forwards. It's just that his offensive production goes to another stratosphere when he's playing power forwards. But that's also contingent on whose flanking him on the wings. You need other shooters around him to space the floor.
Melonoma @ 7/3/2015 5:39 PM
He's going to play both depending on matchup.

We need to have enough depth at SF and PF to where it's not an issue wherever he lines up.

I'd be surprised if Williams got that much. Thomas robinson is better and he was signed for the minimum.

Williams made $6.7m last season on his rookie contract. It'd be tough to ask him to take much of a pay cut. I don't really love the guy, I wouldn't pay him more than the minimum, but I think he will be looking for that.

It wouldn't be tough. He has yet to prove he's an NBA player, let alone a mid-level guy.

If Gallo played like he did at the end of the season he'd give the Knicks a star maybe better than melo would make the Knicks quite "formidable"
