This is starting to be the new take on Phil and the Knicks. More media are starting to acknowledge that the Knicks are not lost and are in fact smart and executing a sound plan. It's been open season on Phil and the Knicks but now it's starting to become clearer what the plan for this summer was.
i saw that tweet too and i agree. i think its all about expectations. i was hoping to get one max player and other role players. we just got role players. but nevertheless its an improvement. we have enough talent to double the win total. and we got younger.
Take out brewer and put bass then you got an B plus off season.
We get blasted for overpaying big names that don't fit, then get blasted for not overpaying big names that don't fit. I'm glad we've learnt our lessons from the past, even if the media guys who realize that are few and far between.
Adding anyone is addressing a need, we had one NBA caliber starter...
Brewer is would be a bad signing right now and really serves zero purpose. If it's vet min, splitting the room exception(re), or full re then okay but he is a below avg player. This is from a fan of his.

I don't think that's quite the point being made. Yes when you start with nothing but media and some fans were basically trashing what Phil was doing and when you step back and look at what he's doing it looks a lot better and it looks like sound basketball management. There's a vision and a plan that is being executed. These are the things many of us have been talking about giving Phil a chance to actually execute.

damn its really important to you for everybody to bend over and kiss phils ass

. Personally i like what phil has done even though lopez was a bit of a overpay. However even though i like what phil has done there is still a big hill to climg until we are in good shape
no to brewer he's an overrated dummy

Nix, the two guys we signed were not in the game in crunch time for Portland during the playoffs...Portland got bounced in the first round..Afflalo look old the year after Orlando..He just looked slower in Denver and Portland...He lost a step if not two..I'm not expecting him to add another gear in NY..

Is that the point tho? Did I ask anyone to kiss Phil's butt? I'm just showing that it's starting to be acknowledged that Phil isn't a naive clown that is just here for the money and who is in over his head. Surely it's a nice thing to see that panic hasn't set in and Phil is calmly going about his business. The team is taking shape and should be improved. One step at a time. Little by little Phil is upgrading the roster. It doesn't have to all come in one off season.

Only one team won the title last year. Everyone else failed. You could do a similar synopsis of any of the available FA's. That's not even close to the point. We needed to upgrade the roster and Afflalo would represent an upgrade. You have to hope he's healthy now and ready to bounce back. RoLo is an upgrade and in the end we need players that fit our needs and style of play. Let's worry about playoff performances when we get there.

i never said he did bad...i like it for the most part. All im saying that not every move in his tenure has been great.
The good news for you, Nix, is that Phil really lowered the bar with last season's performance. This year's team probably doesn't even have to win as many games as the team he inherited did for him to start getting praise.

He's been an important contributor the past 2 years
So who is this Generic NBA Team?? Has there been some expansion I was unaware of??
He is right, though. You add Brewer to what we've added in the last 2 weeks, and its a decent off-season haul.

I think he has done great this offseason. I really wanted Monroe but with time I have come to the conclusion that Rolo might be a better fit. I think he nailed the draft, love the hardaway trade, and I think Afflalo was a really good signing. I don't think DeMarre Carroll is worth what Toronto paid him. I think he benefitted from being in Atlanta.

Who said every move Phil made was great? We all acknowledged that his 1st plan didn't work out. The difference is that since he flushed the roster Phil has been trying to prepare for the future and his draft was great and now he's making solid moves in FA. Not spectacular but then you can't guarantee anything in FA. His plan is taking shape tho and others are starting to notice. I don't know why that should bother any Knick fan that our team is being built up and set up for the future.

Of course they are an upgrade over d league players, rookies and 3rd stringers...We won 17 games last year..Fielding a team that wins 30 games isn't a cause for celebration...U were killing and I do mean killing Woodson during the 54 win season...Now you want us to pull our the pom poms for a projected 30 win team...
It will be interesting to see what happens with Calderon. Some executives hang onto guys they missed on in hopes that the signing works out. I think Calderon would be ok if he is healthy. I worry about Achilles injuries, especially at his age.
