If u ask me, we should have drafted Stein. He was the actual remedy to most of our issues
knicks1248 @ 7/4/2015 2:14 AM
This guy has starter potential, but he reminds me a lot like TIM THOMAS, never able to live up to his potential, just glimpses.

Yup...I'm thinking that if the Knicks had been "wise" enough to take him, Stein might have helped me to regain my hair.

He'd be good to have around the house, too, because he can get to those high places with a paint brush better than I can.

Yeah, I'm already missing the big guy.

He is 24

Shumpert just got just got $10mil and he is older. This is a steal for the knicks

Williams is a starter in this league but by no means would is he worth $5 million a season. I was thinking that he'd be a minimum salaried player for us, which is appropriate given his resume. The remainder of that $7 million per cap space should've gone to Brandon Bass instead; Williams should've been signed with the minimum.

Minimum? You are crazy. $5mil is just right in this market for a proven scoring big with huge upside. More than bass

gunsnewing @ 7/4/2015 3:32 AM
Now get Perkins. Maybe another guy too.

What's Brands status?

crzymdups wrote:The good thing about Williams and Afflalo being 1 and 1 deals is the Knicks have a lot of flexibility next summer. They could have something like $35M in cap room if both opt out. If we improve this year, that cap room might actually mean something. Only downside is if we wanna keep them and they are able to get big raises

That seems to be Phil's plan. An actually plan that is 2 steps ahead. In the last the Knicks would tack on extra years to players deals just for the hell of it and by year 3-4 they've be left with no flexibility once the player didn't work out. They were left counting the days until their deals expired. We all know how tedious and disheartening that can be

Derrick might break out he's only 24 and has played for the wolves and kings ... Isn't 24 the age Paul George broke out ... This guy can fly, drain 3's,good slasher ,always moving and being involved in the offense ... This is a great signing good wool Phil .. Now go get shved and a back up center

Word. Shumpert was killed here. Reality is he is just getting started. Not everyone is Anthony Davis right out of the gates

Yea was just thinking that. He has the ability time a better defender and rebounded with his measurements though if he puts his mind to it

smackeddog @ 7/4/2015 4:23 AM
I don't like this signing at all- I just don't get what he brings, he's not a good shooter, not a good ball handler, not a good rebounder, not a good defender. All he seems to do is dunk the ball via alley oops.

Still, am I the only one who is getting disturbed by the Knicks front office aligning with BRIGGS postings lately?

smackeddog @ 7/4/2015 4:26 AM
In fact the more I think about it the more I don't like it- for that price, I'd rather have signed Brand Wright or Ed Davis

both those guys signed already.

When DW is putting up 16 & 8 as starting PF for the Knicks everyone will be loving that we signed him for $5mil and wishing we gave him 4yrs not 2

Kmart made a career out of just dunking the ball and being an average rebounder. DW is better offensively. Hopefully he surprises us with a will to defend.

He is TT & Kmart rolled up into one. As of today at least

Some of these posters are very unrealistic about contracts

What NBA skill does Williams have? I keep hearing about upside but you only have upside when you so potential what Williams shown?

I think its because he was on bad teams and was the number 2 pick. You dont go number 2 without the physical ability to be an All Star. However its not like the Knicks are this great winning franchise known for bringing out greatness in young players.
VCoug @ 7/4/2015 7:05 AM
At least it's only a two year deal like Afflalo. Not happy with either of those signings. Also, don't know if it means anything but Wikipedia says we signed Luigi Datome to a two year/$5M deal.
Bonn1997 @ 7/4/2015 7:11 AM
Afflalo and Williams? Phil is going after PPG specialists!

yep the Lopez deal is the only one that has potential to be a problem because of the length of the deal. I was hoping for a 2 year deal.
