AS for the Knick fan, I think you guys will love and hate Williams. Sometimes he shows up and puts up good numbers and highlight reel plays and sometimes he doesn't show up and pretty much puts zeros across the board.

He won't cause issues with players though and always seems to have a smile on his face. He belongs in the NBA, definitely, but I wanted a better rebounding big backing CUZ/JT (when JT was here). If he could rebound and block a couple shots he would have been perfect for the Kings. Alas, he's not what we need at this time so we let him go."

There were some great quotes about Shved when he came to the Knicks on fan sites from his former teams. A couple about a cigarettes and coffee diet that I enjoyed but he did well with the change of scenery. Hopefully that is the case here.

Feel Wesley Johnson would be a better target than Derrick Williams

Koufus/Biyombo, Wesley Jonhson, could be GREAT additions that would elevate our DEFENSE with their length/athleticism/mobility and VERSATILITY, that we can still sign with the rest of our CAP space and using Cole Aldrich to get the FULL MLE or just under 3m (2year deal on BI ANNUAL EXEMPTION AKA LLE, not sure if we can have BOTH THE LLE and MLE *do not think so though*)

ON TOP OF THAT, GRAB the 3 D LEAGUE TALENTS that I have been asking for MONTHS NOW, along with other steals, possibly to 2-3years
With 2 Guards that could SHOOT and learn off Affalo, another SF/PF, maybe even some Center when teams go small with Benimon

1- Jerrelle Benimon SF, SF/PF, strech 4, maybe a Lamor Odom type player as a triple double threat
2- Jarell Eddie, G/F, a Danny Green type talent on shooting SG/SF
3- Scotty Hopson, G/F, another G/F that can shoot and score/penetrate/facilitate, decent versatile game as well SG/PG

On top of that other BIGS include Thabeet, McGee, Larry Sanders, and even Andray Blatche (at least 3m + which makes that in China)

Then there are also positions to add from our Summer League Roster as well as James Johnson to target in a trade
UFA with the length/athleticism of Utah's high flyer Jeremy Evan's, where Millsap and DeMaRRe CaRRoLL both developed their games, Evan's could break out this season like Carroll did

With the way we utilized our cap space, it would put us in the MIDDLE at best (the worse position to be in, with little draft picks and 0 draft picks next season)
Not sure how many Trade Exemptions we have left either

We grabbed a bunch of ROLE PLAYERS with no STAR impacts with players approaching 30, (a very dangerous age to be as players physically decline)

These moves puts us in HORRIBLE situations to be in this upcoming season and hurts our salary flexiblity for the next 2 seasons
While I would much rather have looked for CAP FRIENDLY contracts instead, if not find the next and risk compeltely striking out rather than overpaying for ROLE PLAYERS

Then with so many role players that are overpaid already, do we sign more role players that have experience in the triangle like Lou Amundson, Lance Thomas, Jason Smith (for the vet min, if we do sign them for a 1year vet deal, we would have early bird rights for them next that would allow us to have the FULL MLE to utilize next summer, which would be upwards of 7-8m

Then with the rest of our cap do we use it to sign/resign players like Shved or Lin, along with AB?
Not only did we overpay for Lopez but we overpaid for Derrick Williams
Now I like Derrick Williams for a LOW contract, for the VET MIN or 2.5m at BEST if especially with a player option, HE HAS NO LEVERAGE
Instead of using our roster that could give players an incentive to sign for LESS, with our lack of talent, we used it to overpay for talents that could hurt us 2years down the road with negative trade value players

Signing Affalo FIRST, screwed up ANY POSSIBLE CHANCE to BUILD 2 TOP TEIR/2nd Tier Talents like Monroe/LA and Jordan, along with RFA's as well
We should have been able to get multiple contracts for a TEAM OPTION that would have more future trade value's as well

Optimism from some of these UK posters makes me wonder if they are posters that work for MSG with these HORRIBLE ways we failed to build a roster/without future TEAM OPTIONS that could become trade bait
We did NOT add in VALUE players on TOP OF IT

with Rocket's striking out if FA, we likely will have some trade offers for CA through out the season, especially if he shows he can still play at a high level after surgery/injuries...

if we struggle early CA will also be open to it IF HE ISN'T ALREADY
Once again, his BIG BLACK BOOK recruitment's should say a lot of what the league/players thinks about playing for CA and how he could improve his team mates...

I certainly believe had we NOT had CA's contract that we would be able to sign multiple talents not needing major discounts as well as having the #1 overall pick
And yes, we could have sign and traded CA for assets or should have traded him even earlier when his value was still high

Afflalo, Jose, RoLo with Lance, Admoundson as reals pros too if they are kept. Grant Gallo are kids but they have good work ethics.

The scary thing about the Minnesota Timberwolves' Derrick Williams is that he has not developed a major part of his game. In college, he was known as a big man who could step behind the three-point line and hit a long shot. In the NBA, Williams has not been able to adjust to the slightly longer three, and shot only 26 percent this season from three.

In his freshman year at Arizona, he shot 25 percent from downtown, but then improved to an outstanding 56 percent the next year. If he can do the same in the NBA, he will become increasingly harder to guard, as he has the skills to finish both outside and inside.

Minnesota Timberwolves: Derrick Williams. Grade: B. Williams was the best player on the board and a no-brainer, although you always have to wonder when the Timberwolves are on the clock. His fit on Minnesota's roster isn't perfect, but it's not terrible, especially if David Kahn can find a way to ship out Michael Beasley for future assets. Malcolm Lee might be the wing defender they need.

Williams could wind up being the best player in this draft, and the Timberwolves simply couldn't pass him up even with the roster concerns. Yes, his game draws parallels to incumbent forward Michael Beasley, but he played well enough last season that he could bring back decent value if they decide to move him now.

Thing is with Williams is his contract, while overpaid, and HE HAS THE PLAYER OPTION if he does well, it is a LOSE LOSE Situation, as we overpaid for him and didn't LOWBALL HIM
IF WE DO OVERPAY FOR HIM, we SHOULD HAVE LEVERAGE ON HIS CONTRACT WITH A TEAM OPTION, though I would much rather get Wesley Johnson and think Williams would still sign for a 3m deal with player option for 2nd
IF he does suck, he can OPT IN and would be a negative contract for trade value, if he does well early, a team would have a rental player that are unlikely to want to pay him a BIG amount moving forward

All while Wesley Johnson is the BETTER player and more versatile talent, a team mate of Williams
I think Johnson and Koufous are the 2 best talents left that we could use, both of which are UFA's and are better than some of the acquisitions we signed and overpayed for
