According to Jody Genessy of Deseret News, there is a chance that the Jazz could look to trade Trey Lyles.
Lyles hasn't been practicing with the Jazz because he still hasn't signed a contract, but Utah is likely just saving their cap space right now. This is just speculation right now, so we will let you know if there is anything in the works. For now, expect Lyles to be in a Jazz uniform next season.
Interesting.
Wonder if the Jazz like Derrick Williams?
Could be something to file away for more like mid-season. I don't think guys can be traded til 90 days after they sign.
We don't really have enough to trade for the rights to the 13th player taken in the draft right now...

haha Derrick Williams has not taken over Jose as the players that we will look to "plunder" other teams with?
Sounds like the Desert News is making up a story from nothing! Teams usually don't sign their rookies until after free agency.
Maybe Cole Aldrich/Shved/Acey or AB, they need a stretch 4/5 to go with Gobert
seriously though these are guys that could actually have value on a team for depth
Okay, i'll throw them a bone- they want rid of Trey Burke and I think Trevor Booker, so I'll trade those two plus the rights to Lyle for Calderon
Anything we could offer would have to include our 2018 1st rounder so i'm not sure we would do that.

You could always flip flop 1s based on record-give them the better #1…no? You could even do it the year after that, too.
Does he not want to play in Utah?
Comes down to what you think about Lyles.
Sounds like Phil liked him a lot…maybe he would be willing to go creative to get him…who knows.

I read a few tweets from a jazz journalist who's not sure what's going on- said Lyle told him he expected some sort of contract issue. Jazz have said they hope he will report into Utah soon.
