Nick Young signed a four year deal last offseason ( proof that just because you have cap space doesn't mean you should use it like you have a gun to your head)
So taking in Young would mean dealing with him and his contract for three more years.
Can score, but needs to be ball dominant. Does nothing else for you. Does not improve the players around him. Defense did get dramatically better in his contract year. Wouldn't categorize him as a team basketball player. Gives you nothing else but empty points.
More to point, Young is apparently banging Iggy Azalea ( I'm not so hip on current trends at times, so she's apparently a big time pop/singing star)
Which means Melo will freeze him out. His reality star wife, LaLa, is not going to tolerate a NY Knicks better half being more famous/popular/"brandable" than her. Not going to happen.
This is ultimately the problem with Melo on the roster. Anyone who plays the right way or wins over the hearts and minds of Knicks fans will instantly be trashed in the press, frozen out on the court and backstabbed until Dolan pushes that person off the roster.
The roster doesn't need another low IQ chucker.
Lets talk basketball not off the court Diva stuff..he makes the same amount derrick williams make..Enough said

Guess you missed that part.

Put in bold for you, just in case.
Off the court stuff matters when it causes friction on the court.
I could care less who Tony Parker sleeps with and if he decides to cheat on his gf/wife. However when he starts banging a team mates wife and then the franchise tries to trade him, he impacts whats on the court.
I'm sure Steve Nash would like nothing better to do than focus on ball when he was with the Suns. However when Jason Richardson got nailed banging his wife, I'm sure that didn't fly so well right about the point Richardson got shipped out of town.
And our beloved former Knick, Jason Kidd, who famously wrecked his team over Toni Braxton.
Nick Young likes the limelight and so does Melo and nothing about that spells good fortune for the Knicks off or on the court.
