Knicks · Leadership 101: Why Isn't Melo in Las Vegas? (page 1)

misterearl @ 7/12/2015 12:43 PM
... how difficult would it be to show up on day one to support his potential teammates?

What is on his schedule that is more important than introducing himself, getting to know the guys and just being present vas a sign of support?

How difficult is that?

Panos @ 7/12/2015 12:43 PM
Because he's a douche.
KEEPCAMBYNY @ 7/12/2015 12:44 PM
He has businesses to run, basketball is just a part time job
StarksEwing1 @ 7/12/2015 12:45 PM
Sometimes i forget melo is even on the knicks .
GustavBahler @ 7/12/2015 12:48 PM
I miss the old Earl. He was fun.

Was wondering the same thing. He can't take the heat and see KP get all the attention in person. He will hopefully be traded by the deadline and a new era of Knicks basketball will begin on the right foot. The risk of Melo never being the same physically is too great

WaltLongmire @ 7/12/2015 12:56 PM
You know I never thought of this... but he is missing an opportunity for some bonding.

Would have been a nice touch. I know O'Quinn and Williams were there...were Lopez and Aflalo?

Good opportunity for some positive things to happen. Melo could have taken the SL team out to a big dinner, or something like this. Would have shown some class, and yes, it would have been a great leadership moment for him and some positive publicity to counter the negatives that came out around the draft.

i think a trade makes sense for us. We are clearly building for the future so more picks and younger assets fits our plan. Unfortunetly dolan makes the melo decisions but im sure phil already has a price set if melo demands a trade

Chilling with the other "leaders" in the Bahamas..
smackeddog @ 7/12/2015 1:00 PM
Because he needed to give the board something to complain about- it's been a while
gunsnewing @ 7/12/2015 1:01 PM
Would Lebron be there to welcome his 1st round gem and make him feel part of the team from day one? Absolutely you bet he would! Melo relinquishing the spotlight in New York to KP would be extreme damaging to his New York brand in the eyes of his people. The people of Melo Corp.

In the Bahamas..

WaltLongmire @ 7/12/2015 1:05 PM

Looks to me like they just agreed to join forces as a "big four" on a team yet to be determined.

holfresh @ 7/12/2015 1:12 PM
Yeah..Bonding with some 7 foot dude in Summer League...Riiiight..

meloshouldgo @ 7/12/2015 1:17 PM
He didn't take Leadership 101, he took Basketball 105
crzymdups @ 7/12/2015 1:17 PM
When Afflalo was interviewed by Jonah Ballow for his welcome to the Knicks press conference he mentioned he hadn't talked to Melo yet about joining the team. At least send the guys a "welcome aboard" text, Melo.

He's not a leader. He never will be. We knew this a while ago though.

Heck, I thought he would have been involved in recruiting him...since they played together in the past.

This I find more surprising than how he reacted to the draft.

Strange.
