Might want to play Porzingis at Pf this game with Kirk at C. I really think the team needs to get Porzingis the ball inside much more. All of the other big time draft picks have had opportunity to get 10-15 fga. I know kp hasn't played many minutes but maybe take the wrap off a bit today and let him go 25-28 maybe 4 6-7 minute qs.

KP is tired out there no way he can go more than 25 minutes did you noticed his missed free throws a shooter lime that doesn't miss so many free throws unless he is fatigued.

19 years old you can play all day. 25 minutes is fine.

I think KP isn't at his best having to sit out due to the hip thing. They're doing the right thing with him playing limited minutes.

I don't know about that, he said he was in no pain so I don't think the hip is bothering him. However, it's likely the staff still wants to be very cautious with him so as to prevent him from re-injuring the area. I would love for him to play for 25 min and see what he can do for selfish reasons, but I guess the team wants to be safe. I just wish they would get him a lot more touches during the minutes he does play, he should be the focal point of the summer league offense IMO.

He was tired...pretty easy to see.

The bigger issue is that our guards are missing him all the when he is in position for the ball.

Galloway completely missed him on a break, and the pick and pop, a staple of his game in Spain, is not being used properly for him.

He is not strong enough, for the most part, to move calmly to the paint and back an opponent down with his butt, but if you watched the game yesterday, he is constantly cutting into the paint in good position and ready for the ball, and it almost seems like our guards are deliberately ignoring him.

His best bet in the paint is to gains some quick position and be given the ball immediately. He has shown an ability to pass with his back to the basket, but why not get him the ball and work through him more often, or give him a chance to work for a shot in the post before his defender is set.

Am I the only one to see this?

Very strange.

I agree he was very tired. When I watched his workouts his shot was automatic. Then I looked at his stats for previous years and it was not reflected in those stats. I think his shots start to miss more when he gets tired. I know this is normal but it seems to happen to Porzingis at a higher degree.

mreinman @ 7/14/2015 1:39 PM
he was tired because he is using a lot of energy trying to box out. Those legs are weak right now and I am sure that they are tired.

What I was saying is that "WHEN KP HAD TO SIT" and not work out he lost some of his conditioning and isn't at his best. I'm not saying his hip is bothering him now. I was the one downplaying the Hip scare that some were fomenting.

You need to play to increase your game cardio. I'm not one for holding back play through it use your size near the basket and focus on the ft line.

Playing when extremely fatigued is how you end up with major injuries. You need to have controlled workouts to improve your conditioning rather than just pushing yourself at game speed when you're really tired.

Remember though, he hasn't practiced since before the draft (Knicks staff shut him down with the hip)- his first practice was about 2 days before the first summer league game, so he'll be out of shape.

Would definitely like to see Porzingis at the 4 this game with Kirk or maybe even Galdikis at C.
Also interested in seeing how Kirk, Galikas, & Endour do defensively against Okafor.
gunsnewing @ 7/14/2015 2:16 PM
KP is going to embarrass OK4 in every single aspect of the game baby!

Fast and more physical game in the States that is all. There will be an adjustment period once the official seasons starts. He just has to keep on working one day at a time. I mean mean Drago style

Excellent points. Grant will be solid pg but the hyperbole about his court vision is just that. That push down the court and snap pass for assist was nice but delivery of ball in half court O needs to get better( not harsh, just look at Russell) They worked the pik and pop somewhat in first game but even then it was too slow developing which allowed the hedge to recover. Galloway just isnt a pg, Ledo has some passing skills but he's too selfish to think pass first.

those are great points and you know what's crazy? Calderon will work the Spanish pick and pop with KP and the other PGs will follow suit

Exactly. Why are people throwing all these things at KP all at once? Relax he is 19 and will hopefully be here another 20yrs. The Knicks knew what they are doing the second they missed out on Towns. That's why you got all the conflicting reports with the help of the Alan Hahns. Knicks are trading out, they are drafting Stein then Mudiay then Winslow.

Have a seat and think this through for a minute. This is the first time in the Melo era, with the exception of Kidd's brief stint, that we have a playmaker on the floor with Melo. Matter of fact we have 2! KP & Grant!

Man I can't wait for this season to start. I'm about to spontaneously combust with enthusiasm!

Yo Silverfuel, let's get the NBA 2015-16 kickoff countdown thread going homie!!!!!!

I think they are doing the wrong thing by letting him sit so long and bringing him back in with 4 mins left. He's going to be stiff if he sits too long. Short mins in the first half.....Then let him play extended minutes in the second half. I knew when he came into the game, it was going to be a bad day for him. But like Briggs said, he's 19....lots of tread on those tires. Still have to keep in mind hes 7'3....Players that tall usually come with long term injuries.
