Knicks · Summer League Game 3 vs Philly Porzingis vs OK4 (page 16)

its so crazy that anyone thinks that hinkie is an idiot. I did not for a milisecond think that Hinkie would pass on ok4.

Well he scouted Porzingis and was reported to be very fond of him. He also had Embiid and Noel. Okafor was the pick but I could see him taking a euro. I don't think anyone that knows anything about him thinks he is stupid.
KP... You can build a defense around him. And his offense is pretty good. One day he could be a #1 option too...

you don't pass on a player like Ok4 who is much more of a sure thing. it was a pipe dream to think that Hinkie would.
who he has was irrelevant since he makes trades as often as we pee.

one of the bigger ifs. what'd you think of the play where he gets stuffed by slim lanky and then decides a shot to the chin with the elbow is in order no less? i think it was a bitch move and showed a lack of character....
I didn't see the shot to the chin..OK4 is a very good dude..A high character dude of which I can give two shiit about..Just play the game...But when did that happen, I recorded the game..I'll look at it...

unintentional ... nothing to see there.
ok4's father acting like marc cuban was kinda uncool but eh.

I was hoping that too, but with Joel hurt, it made sense for them to take Okafor. We might be better off. Zing looks like he actually might become the best player in this draft.

I agree about Porzingis. I think it was the right pick but took courage to do it in NY.

If you are referring to OK4 pushing off Grant and the incidental contact hitting Grant in the throat before he even took the shot, then you later try to say OK4 retaliated with his elbow, after being blocked..Then this is showing me your character more so than that of OK4..

If Embiid had played last year and been as good as advertised, it is not out of the question that Hinkie would have traded out- perhaps with Orlando, but if he can't get his guard, maybe he would have taken a player who is a better compliment to a healthy Embiid and Noel...Porzingis.
Why have 3 guys at 4 and 5 who are at their best 15 feet and in? You can give the Hinkiephant answer that are accruing assets, but you probably retard the development of your players if they all essentially play the same position, and set back your rebuilding another few years.
I did a thread on Embiid's impact on the draft. As far as I was concerned, you had to go into the draft as if Embiid was not on your team, and OK4 was the logical choice. Add to this Saric's inability to get over to the U.S. and you have the reason why they HAD to take OK4.

I thought he threw his arm out after the block- but it on the offensive foul against KP, I think. It was on the player prior to him asking to come out of the game.
I use the free feed on my computer, and the quality is so so, as are my eyes.
He actually plays bully ball on a somewhat regular basis, and has gotten away with some arm swings and elbows on offense, and grabbing people he's guarding. I don't think he wants to waste his energy chasing his man.
OK if you get away with this type of stuff, I suppose, but he is doing it. Kind of like Shaq in this regard.
Karma came back to bite him in the end, though,
not a good look from dear old dad.

Well you are wrong..I watched it again a few times..Grant was between him and Zingis..OK4 tried to clear space before the release and hit Grant with the area above his wrist not his elbow..Again, it was prior to the shot..Zingis blocked the shot and they ran up court..Zero retaliation effort..None..

I did not say that Hinkie would not have traded the pick, I said that he would not pass on him for another player. We had no chance at the top 3. They were as solid as you can get.
Porzingis has been a mixed bag so far for me. Tonight, his length on defense really helped against Okafor but what the hell is he on offense? Biggest enigma out of anyone picked in the first round. Not being critical at all--I'm just beyond curious as to what we have with this kid. What I see is either he's not being aggressive enough demanding the ball and then not aggressive enough once he does get it or he's not getting it enough. Hard to tell--maybe a little of all 3. I really wanna see the kid want the ball more, then shoot the ball more. I wonder where his sweet spots are on the floor. I have trouble figuring out what his identity will be on offense, where he'll be most effective, even what position he should play and what players on the 15-man he'll be effective playing with. That's a ton of questions for someone picked 4th in the draft. And let's call it like it is--there's about 10 more questions where those came from...What I really liked tonight was his halftime interview -- admitting he was playing poorly and needed to play better was indeed refreshing, I agree with Breeny.
Ndour's not going to Europe. Either we keep him with one of the 2 remaining spots or someone else is signing this kid. Love him -- he's an impact player on both ends, plays with great energy and is fully engaged with his teammates at all times, on the court and in the huddle--giving guys encouragement etc. This last part is a pleasant surprise and an added bonus, as if there wasn't enough to like already. I mean he's the first one going over to Early to tell him he could go in the backcourt to get that ball; he's out there telling Zinger stuff and Zinger's listening and following his lead; I see him talking in the huddle, etc.. I'm glad Fisher's right there seeing this. This kid's a keeper..How the hell do you let this guy get away now?? I don't want to beat a dead horse but I can't believe we jumped the gun and signed LT And Amundson. I think it was a mistake to sacrifice good roster flexibility to sign 2 superfluous players that would've been there at the end of TC if we still saw the need. I'd much rather have Ndour and Thanasis with those 2 spots. I was thinking a guard and a legit C with the remaining spots but I think one of those spots needs to go to Ndour now, I don't care what he does now the rest of the way. If Shved's really no longer an option, gimmie Elliot Williams and Maurice Ndour and let's roll.
And what's up with Galdikas? Can we see this guy play please? What's up with the DNPs? Doesn't look hurt--he's in uniform on the bench. We have a pretty good idea what Kirk can do--his strengths and weaknesses. Let's see Galdikas now. I can see competition between Kirk and Galdikas for one of the last spots going right down to the wire in TC unless we say that with RoLo, O'Quinn, Porzingis we already have enough depth at 5 and go with Ndour and a guard.

KP is a versatile big. He's a forward now and may eventually grow into a C. He'll score all over the place as he gets stronger. He's got range to 3 and he can hit the mid range jumper. If he was a little stronger he'd be posting up more.
Just watch the highlight video and you can see his game in this offense. His game right now will likely be flashing to the Elbow, PnP, occasional 3pt shot and operating in the Pinch Post where he can face up. What you saw him doing in this game is basically some of the looks he'll get in this offense but with many more touches.
