Melo doesn't represent team ball or share the wealth ball. He represents the old ISO Hero Ball that doesn't win in the playoffs. The Warriors and Spurs proved that ISO Ball is dead.
Here's a perfect example. The Finals MVP who represents all that is right in beautiful NBA ball, won't even start next year....
That's unselfish, do whatever the team needs me to do attitude, 3 and D, beat you 1 through 15 basketball that's both great to watch and what works in today's NBA.

Forgot to mention the Hawks as another example of how the NBA is evolving. I believe the same squad barely beat out the Knicks for the 8th spot 2 years ago in 2013-2014 when Melo had his "best" season supposedly.
Of course not saying they'll be the same with Carroll gone, but man what a season they had and the #1 seed in the East.
Phil acquired enough talent to have a Hawks like share the ball, 3 and D system. Not saying the Knicks will win 60 games playing a style of game, but they can be like the Hawks in 2013-2014, squeeze in to the playoffs, then next year Phil acquires more young 2 way talent as our young guns mature and get better as well.
It all starts with a system like the Spurs, Hawks, Warriors etc. Warriors didn't make the playoffs, then they eeked in, then they made the big leap.
Kristaps is a big part of that culture change, same with Grant. The hope is Melo "buys in" and all this goes away. Just hard to believe after a 12 year sample size.

yeah, I can understand how it's hard to believe when: 1) MeloKnicks making the playoffs is no big sheets, but the Hawks and Warriors eeking into the playoffs is the wave of the future 2) Melo drags us to the playoffs three years running with possibly the worst contingent of one shot wonders, geriatric weirdos and malcontents ever assembled. Means nothing. 3) We win 54 games in the shit East, but that's part of 12 years of smelly donkeykong. The Hawks win 60 in the same crap East and they are to be adored and pined over.
Like the fiahmike said in another thread, these are just facts. Hate the Melo all you want if it floats your boat. Just realize that historically, it makes your arguments look weak.
