Knicks · His Name Is Kristaps (page 3)

ChuckBuck - looking at that photograph is a preview of an exciting NYK shift line that is both humble and lovable:
Frontcourt
Lopez
Kristaps
NDour
Consider this. These three are rare blend of height, intelligence, adaptation, muscle and hustle. NDour shot better than 40 per cent from three point range. Porzingis has a nice stroke as well. The primary rebounding chores fall to Lopez and NDour. The boards Kristaps adds are a bonus. The best part is that they look for each other on offense and share with a purpose.
Backcourt
Afflalo
Grant
One vet and one yute. Afflalo Jerian Grant will make his share of rookie errors but he is a quick study. Afflalo wants to be in New York and we dig that about him.

I used to be one a galaxy far, far away...
For me it's all about the YOOTs
Q. jrodmc - Answer Man been sipping the MeloHate mint julep?
A. Melo is 30 and coming off knee surgery. Read my lips big homey ... (Dramatic pause)
DEE-Fence.
@seth_rosenthal: It’s taking every ounce of restraint in my body not to say some seriously reckless sh/t about Kristaps Porzingis
@talkhoops: Starting to think Dirk Nowitzki was the German Kristaps Porzingis the whole time.

AnswerMan should maybe try a different flavor of Kool Aid
By golly, I'm not so old and jaded that the Jrod can't remember some almost 30 year old guy diving into chairs and getting quick, slap away blocks. While occassionally dropping 62 points on folks.
(takes deep breath for emphasis)
It's a new season, and a new brand to be built. Listen...listen to the new....
MELO-DEEEEE

Hey Chuckie Baby!, Chuckie Baby!!! (in the Unknown Comic voice)
One can be a Melover and also love the yoots as well, my YouTubeMelo friend! Those worldviews don't have to be mutually exclusive, no matter what the haters continually say.
I'm still pulling for just plain "Taps"...would be cool to play it quickly after every block our new Latvian bean pole swats away. I'm hoping he goes the Russell-esque route and starts many the break with that wingspan, since he doesn't have to catch any huge amount of air to block shots...
Melo doesn't represent team ball or share the wealth ball. He represents the old ISO Hero Ball that doesn't win in the playoffs. The Warriors and Spurs proved that ISO Ball is dead.
Here's a perfect example. The Finals MVP who represents all that is right in beautiful NBA ball, won't even start next year....

That's unselfish, do whatever the team needs me to do attitude, 3 and D, beat you 1 through 15 basketball that's both great to watch and what works in today's NBA.
Gone are the days of give player the ball and get out the way. Melo's way don't work, unless his name is Jordan, Lebron, or Kobe. Those guys have court vision at least, Melo doesn't.
They say the NBA is a copy cat league...can't argue with results.

Good sign! ![]()
He's adjusting to the rules of the game from Europe rules.
In the NBA, they usually call travelling after 6 steps.

he should have passed the ball to a guard to bring it up the floor. Guys who are 7 3 should not be doing stuff like stealing the ball and taking it in themselves. KP, there are rules ya know?

Please tell me you don't think GS is winning it all without that starting backcourt. Iguodala's a journeyman second-tier star who's re-invented himself. Good for him.
Melo's way is all there is when you're playing with the likes of Duhon, Ray Felton, ShumpBrick, JR, the ghost of Amare, etc, etc, etc... Nice to say you don't have to play iso when you've got Pippen, Wade, Shaq, Pau, etc, etc, etc.
What has been the NBA method to copy since the Ainge/Mchale CeltWolves won it all? Oh, that's right STARPHUCQUE!
Yawn.

You forgot getting David Lee accepting a demotion to the bench for Draymond Green.
Iguodala accepting his 6th man role, even though he's been a starter his whole career pretty much.
Bogut taking a backseat for the small ball/speedball lineup.
Ezeli, Livingston, Barbosa all taking their minutes where they can.
The same went for San Antonio the previous year.
It's sacrificing for the team, unselfish play, move the rock around to the open man.
If we get the same Melo that he's been for 12 years and doesn't buy into a team first share the ball system, Phil will have no choice but to Zen Melo into waiving that no trade clause.

If Melo spends the whole start of this season jab stepping by his lonesome with this new crew all playing and healthy, then I will gladly join you on sabbatical. Book it.
Moving the rock around is great if the rock ends up going in the hole, and not out of bounds, off someone's foot, off the top/bottom of the backboard, or not even catching any rim at all...

Forgot to mention the Hawks as another example of how the NBA is evolving. I believe the same squad barely beat out the Knicks for the 8th spot 2 years ago in 2013-2014 when Melo had his "best" season supposedly.
Of course not saying they'll be the same with Carroll gone, but man what a season they had and the #1 seed in the East.
Phil acquired enough talent to have a Hawks like share the ball, 3 and D system. Not saying the Knicks will win 60 games playing a style of game, but they can be like the Hawks in 2013-2014, squeeze in to the playoffs, then next year Phil acquires more young 2 way talent as our young guns mature and get better as well.
It all starts with a system like the Spurs, Hawks, Warriors etc. Warriors didn't make the playoffs, then they eeked in, then they made the big leap.
Kristaps is a big part of that culture change, same with Grant. The hope is Melo "buys in" and all this goes away. Just hard to believe after a 12 year sample size.

yeah, I can understand how it's hard to believe when:
1) MeloKnicks making the playoffs is no big sheets, but the Hawks and Warriors eeking into the playoffs is the wave of the future
2) Melo drags us to the playoffs three years running with possibly the worst contingent of one shot wonders, geriatric weirdos and malcontents ever assembled. Means nothing.
3) We win 54 games in the shit East, but that's part of 12 years of smelly donkeykong. The Hawks win 60 in the same crap East and they are to be adored and pined over.
Like the fiahmike said in another thread, these are just facts. Hate the Melo all you want if it floats your boat. Just realize that historically, it makes your arguments look weak.
