my thought... he's not going to be easily demoralized. He knows he can play

No current star pg in the nba, pick that high, has ever look that bad in summer league. He definitely looks like a late 1st rnndr.

Don't get me wrong, he has skills, he just looks like he's playing in the park on w 4th. from I saw, he passes come too late or too soon, some questionable shots, and he penetrates into traffic, unlike grant who see's the floor much better

I agree with you not our problem. He is going to be fine with time. I just never saw superstar and I still don't. What I see is a superior athlete on defense will easily shut him down. I think the best word to describe Russell is crafty.

Are the LA papers putting out articles about Kobe being "disappointed" with the Lakers' pick while washed up players out of the league (Odom?) say that he doesn't "deserve" a rebuild?
Interesting that I haven't seen anybody mention that ridiculous KMart quote. WTF is that about? What exactly does Melo "deserve"?

I looked at that quote and laughed. Kmart acting like Melo has championships.

I was a Kmart fan while he was here but that quote was idiotic and it's not his place to say that.

Once Russell gets to know his teammates, Im confident you will see a much better player. Needs to get into good enough shape for elevating to the rim off the dribble. Russell and Randle are going to be a poor man's Stockton to Malone in the coming years IMO.

TheGame @ 7/16/2015 2:23 PM
The game is too fast for him now, but I think he will get better. The Lakers should have taken Okafor, even though I know their thinking was that a Randle/Okafor frontcourt could not guard anyone, and the Lakers were hoping to sign Aldridge.
yellowboy90 @ 7/16/2015 2:42 PM
How weird is it that Curry shared the backcourt with a 2nd rd undersized combo guard and Russell is sharing the backcourt with Clarkson.

He's probably bored & trying not to get hurt.
Let's wait for the 1st month of the 2015/16 season to be over before coming up with a verdict on his bust potential.

MAybe we are jumping the gun....but if he CANT GUARD OR SCORE AGAINST ROOKIES, he's gonna have a hard time against guys in the LEAGUE

Summer league is bullshit. Guarantee it will be a different story when real games start. Like I said, he probably doesn't want to get hurt playing against scrubs.

You sound like you are a personal friend of his thats upset that your boy is gettin his ass cooked in summer league, lol

It's too early. Derick Rose had a worse summer league than Clarkson and Russell. Looked how he turned out.

I don't pay much attention when a guy known as a great shooter in college, misses shots in SL. His shot will come around.

If he's a PG playing in most offenses, he will have to be a better penetrator, and maybe folks are seeing that he lacks the explosiveness off the dribble.

Would he have been more useful in the Triangle...we'll never know- but there is at least some doubt that he is as ready to play in the NBA as many experts said he would be.

franco12 @ 7/16/2015 4:31 PM
small sample, but would anyone trade KP for Russell straight up?

I look at KP and he is just so young. I haven't watched much of Russell, but he's probably going through the same issue.

No. 7footers that are mobile AND can shoot.....Not common...Hard to defend

Point guards that can shoot...dime a dozen... hardest position to play in the league

they're both question marks, to some extent. But KP has shown something that I think is encouraging.

Before the draft, I think you'd have gotten a different answer from a lot of knick fans and some posters on this board.

Would not make this trade with what I've seen so far.

Too small of a sample, though, and you say. Ask me a few years from now for a more definite answer.

he ended off the game yesterday really well and made some ridiculous passes.

That is about as stupid as judging bust potential based on 3 summer league games.

Fuck off, asshole.

Bit much for this kind of discussion...no?

I was kind of pissed because he wants to be a wise ass, but I edited it just as you quoted it I guess. I wouldn't have changed it if I saw you quoted me before I changed it.

Same thing always - someone talks shit, they get a verbal smack for it, then someone else comes along with the 'We're just having a conversation' crap.

I think we need a "hug" SMILY.

I'm sure you can come up with some more creative insults that get the same point across...

and are we actually having more than a "conversation crap" here?

No - I like players with tenacity on defense
