Knicks · Lebron could find time to go to SL, but not Carmelo??? (page 2)

Stop reading Frank Isola
you're letting your hate for Isola's hate blind the fact that melo deserves hate.
i was big time in melo's camp up until the knee/all-star game b.s.
Melo might have his issues and branding is one, but you can flip it also that the dude will play hurt and give his all to represent the team. Either way its bullshit. I rather not dwell on either. Knicks are in great shape. We need to focus on how this team is going to play come November.
Add this to his comments on the draft and free agency, and a situation that was already awkward, becomes even more so.
All he had to do was show up one day and say hi to our free agents and SL players.
If he wanted to show his displeasure with Jackson he could have done the handshake and walkaway move that Cousins did to Karl.
You guys can stick your collective heads in the sand or make comments about how people shouldn't read Isola, but a rift has developed between our "star" and Phil Jackson, and any status Anthony had a a leader on this Knicks' team, which was already minimal to begin with, has been severely damaged.
Anthony had 2 opportunities to make calls or use social media to congratulate our new draftees and free agent, and he failed to do the right thing at the right time. He could have redeemed himself with a simple visit to Vegas...and he failed again.
What's next?

marbury 2.0
Marbury bought suits for rookies Channing Frye, David Lee, and Nate Robinson. As well as attended summer league. Which shows the correlation to these leadership tactics and winning during the season :/.
Melo can do all these things but it wouldn't matter if the season turns to crap and nobody would care if he did all these things in summer league if the season turns to crap. I don't care if he shows up to Vegas or buys rookies suits or reaches out to rookies. When the season starts though I care about tangible things that prove they contribute to winning like more effort moving the ball and getting teammates involved. He can ignore rookies all summer for all I care. But he does need to up those assist numbers to 5+ a game. That's what he should be held accountable for.
If he had an illusion that Jackson will complete rebuild in 3 month now its all gone.
Melo is in driving seat. He can stay and go with the program or ask for trade.
Ether way this will be fine for the Knicks.
Next 2 years are transitional so Melo no Melo makes not to much difference.

In the absence of drama, Knicks media create it. He has never been to Knicks summer league the whole time he's been here.

The 'message' it sends is entirely your own projection.
Fact: he is on vacation.
That's it- he never goes to Summer league. He has been rehabbing, he's now taking a vacation, because when he gets back his rehab is getting ramped up. CP3 wasn't at summer league- does that mean he doesn't approve of the Clippers moves this offseason? Where was Wade? Was he sending a message that he is unhappy with the Heats moves.
He wasn't vacationing in Las Vegas- it wouldn't be a matter of him 'just turning up' for a day, it would mean ending his vacation, flying over just to shake hands to allay the fears of insecure players and fans. Have you ever been called by work in the middle of a vacation and expected to do some work stuff? It absolutely ruins the holiday!
Melo should cancel his vacation and fly back to disprove some stories the media has made up to pass the time? Remember when the media claimed that Melo and Tim Jr hated each other and Melo and Tim Jr shouted at each other in the middle of last season? Now suddenly they are best friends and he's devastated about him being traded away! They make up drama all the time, and often it's contradictory.

Simple question.
Let's not consider whether he "should" or "should not" have attended...
Lets forget that Anthony, in one way or another, let his opinions be known about our draft and our FA signings, unlike Paul.
Assuming that he had the time...
Would it have been better for the team's chemistry if he had shown up? Yes or No?

How many guys on the SL will make the team?
Freaking Summer league is no big deal. Seems that everything he does would be a media event to satisfy the haters anyway.
There are dozens of players who are not making appearances and nobody cares. No big deal.
For all we know there might be intense trade negotiations for him, or not. We either see it with your own eyes or read about it in the papers.

It would have made no difference- what difference does it honestly make if he sees them today, next week, next month? About 3 or 4 summer league players will make the team, of those Melo has been known Early for 1 year- how is a trip to vegas going to impact their relationship?! He met and worked out with Porzingis just before the draft- duo you really think Porzingis needs to see his face every week?

What I find odd is none of this is really out of tune. Is it impossible for Melo to NOT like the pick? No. Melo calling a player picked in the top 5 as a steal actually makes Melo sound stupid. I like Kristaps as our pick, but where was he slated? It's not like he was the consensus #1 or 2 and fell to #4. Melo may have reached out to him behind the scenes, I wouldnt take his brother's quote as gospel no more than an article being written on it. None of it was done publicly, like other players have done.

right so we don't have a direct quote of his being upset as that is all rumor-mongering.
stephen a. smith: "I talking to my sources last night. All they said was, he’s furious. He’s livid. He feels completely hoodwinked and betrayed by Phil Jackson. He feels like he was lied to, like he was sold a bill of goods. He knew that he couldn’t get as money anywhere else, and he’s willing to concede that he wanted his money. But he didn’t know it was going to be like this. He didn’t know it was going to be this bad. And he can’t believe that his second season under the Phil Jackson regime, he has to look forward to it being worse than even last year was."
Carmelo Anthony himself tweeted: “What’s understood doesn’t need to be spoken upon” #DestiNY #TheFutureIsNow.
but the damage control from the rumor-mongering is to be taken at face value. in other words, later Anthony tweeted of Porzingis, “I can’t wait either. He’s a steal.’’
believe what you wish-- the way melo conducts himself during the season will tell us the truth....

When the Knick are playing in the third week of January, on the 4th leg of a 5 game road trip, it's not going to matter one iota whether or not Melo attended a summer league game in July..
You are making these kids look like the whinny kid whose life changed at age 10 because dad was late for his soccer game..If these kids need Melo in the stands at a summer league scrimmage then we have bigger problems than Melo needing to show up at a summer league scrimmage...
Are we now drafting kids that needs summer time coddling?
