I don't think he is describing Lebron.
Larkin would have been, in my opinion, something in the veinn Briggs is looking for.
elite AND skilled athlete who can drive, create and take over games.... Seriously, how many guys fit that description? Grant isnt an athlete? I mean Briggs is talking about pretty much the most coveted description of a wing. If a guy fits that mold he's a top 3 pick.
elite skills, athleticism, can take over games and create.
James Harden Lebron Curry Westbrook Wall Lilliard Kyrie
I mean there are a handful of others but notice a trend?
It like saying "instead of Lopze we should have targeted a bigman with a post game, good passing AND the ability to protect the rim" (AKA Shaq)
Kinda silly IMO
he said for a period- which granted I hadn't read that far.
A Jamal Crawford/JR Smith type of player - yes, they're special, but not impossible to find.
We're rolling pretty much with what we have - I don't see any significant moves.
Briggs is going to have to hope some combination of Melo/Afflalo & Grant can be athletic and attack the defense, creating opportunities.

That's what they still need.

That was why I wanted to add Jeff Taylor to sign a 2year vet min deal, I think he would compliment Galloway/Calderon much, and is similar to Jarret Jack, who can play PG/SG and SF a bit He is very under rated and was very good when given minutes, with the ability to play a role like Lance Stephenson and PJ Hairson, without the drama Also a very under rated DEFENDER as well with good athleticism, ability to penetrate and finish, could hit wide open 3pters, and handle the ball, while only 26
Justin Hamilton to a 2year vet min deal would be a realistic target as well, who could hit wide open 3pters, and his a LEGIT Center that is still young

Marshan Brooks and Jordan Crawford are 2 combo guards that would fit that description
Errick McCollum is similar to them and is available Think we need a 2year vet min deal and not 1year players that are worth developing within our system I do think that Jeff Taylor who just signed with Europe on a 1year deal at about 800k would have been ideal for a 2year vet min deal though we can target him next year to pair with Galloway and Calderon While Thanasis should be brought in with a 3year deal, with part of our Room Exemption, to develop in to our SG of our future, possibly teaming him up with Westbrook when he is a UFA 2years later
Westbrook wants his own team and loves the cameras on him and NYK's would be ideal for him and the GARDEN would be cheering MVP chants with his energy, dunks, steals, and be great for building his endorsements While next summer, we likely will be targeting Hassan Whiteside with EVERY OTHER TEAM, especially Lakers
However, his skills would fit in perfectly in The Triangle and both KP and Whiteside fully compliments each other If Robin Lopez plays well, I would not mind moving him, he is a ROLE PLAYER and we NEED ALL STARS to contend and attract OTHER ALL STARS
With Affalo and Robin Lopez, they both were the WORST talents on the Blazers starting lineup in the playoffs While we do not have the talents that The Blazers even had last year
LA >> KP (will need time for KP to catch up)
Battum >>> CA (CA is the better scorer but Battum does many other things well, especially DEFENSE and creating for the team, while he struggled last season due to his wrist injury that he played through)
Lilliard >>> any guard on our team
Robin Lopez - role player whos production was replaced by Kaman, Meyers Leanard, and Joel Freeland
Affalo - he simply struggled though he may play better in a system that fits him, with his ability to post up, Affalo is a team player and if he touches the ball and gives it up, he is unlikely to get the ball back as LA, Lilliard, and Battum are the 3 goto option that initiate the OFFENSE, with Meyeard Leanard/Kaman and CJ Mccallumm getting more touches than Affalo
IMO, Wesley Matthews is much better than Affalo, Comparing Affalo with Wesley Matthews
Wesley Matthews 3pt shooting >>>>
Wesley Matthews POST UP and finish through contact >>>>>>
Wesley Matthews DEFENSE/TOUGHNESS >>>>>>>
Wesley Matthews handling the ball, creating for the team, and creating his own shot >>>>>>>>
Wesley Matthews physical abilities with athleticism, quickness/speed, strength >>>>>> Affalo
Wesley Matthews drawing FOULS and FT attempts >>>>>>
The question mark is the age factor with Matthews recovering with the Achilles injury

I agree with this. That's the biggest need on the roster, assuming KP can earn the starting PF role at some point and Grant develops as a good Triangle starting PG.
We'll have between $19M (if no one opts out) and $32M (if both Afflalo and DWilliams opt out) in cap room next summer. Should be able to acquire someone like that.
helloharv@ 7/24/2015 6:06 PM
Nate Robinson would help as a scorer off he bench
WHO is going to score on the 2nd unit?
Knicks1969@ 7/24/2015 8:54 PM
There are plenty of combo guards out there that can slash and shoot. The problem is to find one who can play both sides of the ball.
What about Elliot Williams; what is the deal with him??
