I don't think this will happen but if it did-- I'd want the Brooklyn picks. G wallace is gone for David Lee by the way.

yeah i can see melo headed to the rebuilding laker or cetlic, that makes all the sense in the world
These kind of articles are just so predictable. However they make no sense to me. What do these media guys think Melo was expecting this summer? There was no scenario where the Knicks could add stars and still fill all the holes in roster. This wasn't a ready made situation like Boston where you could just add a KG and Allen and immediately have a finals team.
I just think Melo won't ask for a trade if the Team is competitive. I don't see this roster being close to bad enough to make a trade request valid. The media is convinced this team can't compete. They don't really have a rationale for that based on anything but a bias. No big names to these media guys means a bad team. They aren't really examining the talent, fit or construction of the roster.

there are 29 teams out there so anything is possible. if i am jackson i am concerned that the market for a guy coming off a second debridement/patellar tendon tear, who has never been known to be in supreme condition, who is more interested in branding than basketball, and who has made an improbable career out of underachievement, said market will be slim.
that said, if there are no takers it is entirely possible that melo will have some sort of lingering physical issue that will relegate him to street clothes behind the bench and maybe even excuse him from attending games for "personal reasons."

There were a lot of doubters before the 54 win season too. Sometimes things just click. It's about how the parts all come together. I don't believe these media guys have even put in the level of examination that you did when trying to predict what this team might be capable of. I bet you did way more evaluation of the roster than most of these media guys.
IMO this year's team should be able to function at a much more competitive level. We have some more reliable 2 way players on this roster. This team won't be a walkover every night. This is a team full of more mentally and physically tough players. I just think this team has much more fight than last year based on the character of the players and not just wishful thinking. These players don't have a losers mentality. I expect these players to be pumped to be in NY in a new situation.

Lots of optimists too before the 17 and two 23 win seasons. Sometimes things just click, and I hope you're right, but sometimes they don't.
The knicks should look to trade Melo if the right deal presents itself. Even if KP and Grant are the real deal, it will probably be two years before they are ready to compete for a championship. If we could move Melo for a solid young starter and draft picks, that might be the best move longterm.
I think it will happen too. I Just hope we get some really good assets in return

Sure enough things can go wrong but usually you understand why. Last season isn't a mystery at this point. We know which players failed and why. I think this is a much better roster in terms of the character of the players and their fit for this style of play.
Phil had more options to build with his kind of players. Not that this will guarantee success but I think the odds for success are much better. These guys are quality support players. They can do the things a team needs around Melo. I think it will lead to a competitive team.
