Knicks · Skill set-wise, you know who would be a perfect fit for one of the last holes on the roster? JR Smith. (page 1)

crzymdups @ 7/28/2015 12:29 PM
Too bad about his attitude, because we could use an athletic scoring SG off the bench. JR also led the team in assists before he was traded last year.

I don't want him back - too much of a character, takes horrible shots, doesn't defend consistently enough.

But skill set? He's a good fit for what the second unit needs.

I know he won't be back and I don't think it's a good idea. Just strikes me as funny that he would be a good fit here with his head screwed on right.

Again, I don't want him back, but it strikes me as funny.

With his talent and skillset JR would be a great for most places until you take into account that he's a moron man-child that refuses to take the game seriously.
fishmike @ 7/28/2015 1:02 PM
JR has a 98mph fastball. He's got the golden arm and lead-head. The problem (and Knicks and Cavs have both tasted this now) is as far as he can take you he can bring you down.
crzymdups @ 7/28/2015 1:12 PM
Yeah, it's a shame. I think he's a good dude at heart, but can't muster the necessary professionalism. It's gonna ruin and possibly prematurely end his career.
dk7th @ 7/28/2015 1:12 PM
it' bigger than skills it's about winning. he is a loser. the end
nixluva @ 7/28/2015 1:16 PM
JR is the ultimate Tease. He shows you all this talent but you can't depend on him and he'll let you down when you need him most. I'm just fine with what he have right now. We need to further develop the talent we already have. It's not that we lack talent but rather that we have to fully realize the potential of the players we already have. There's a lot of untapped talent in reserve on this roster. I prefer the character of the guys we have now. Even a guy like DWill who hasn't lived up to his potential is preferable to JR and his nonsense.

What makes you think he's a good dude?

Nalod @ 7/28/2015 1:19 PM
Dude has $100 million talent. That was never his issue.
He is a child.

Just a general sense of who he is via stuff like the midnight bike ride he did with fans in ny one off-season and stuff like that. I don't think he's a bad guy. Lebron liked him. Though it's pretty telling that Cleveland hasn't re-signed him yet.

Vehicular manslaughter. Good dudes sometimes kill their friends. Didn't mean to.

Good dudes party and let down teammates. Good dudes get suspended too!

Good dudes say one thing and do another. Dude might be a good dude, but we talking professional athtete.
He is a not a good professioal.

Oh, I agree. He is not a professional.

I did not know about the vehicular manslaughter... when did that happen?

KNow a knick. Gotta know this stuff. He passed 4 cars and went thru a stop sign. Nobody wearing a seatbelt. JR lucky he was not crippled let alone killed.
Self absorbed ego centric immature who thougth his entitledment as rich young athlete means he can do anytying he wants. I don't like JR for many reasons and one is he took forgranted his talents which are vast!! This kid could have been an allstar and made over $100 mil in his career!!!

Google it. There was no criminal intent or evil to what he did, but his friend died. Very sad stuff.

newyorknewyork @ 7/28/2015 1:44 PM
I believe what you just summed up was part of the experiment Phil was alluding to.

Yeah your right, you every dated a beautiful chick that can be sweet an adorable one night, and a complete bitch and mean the next.

That's JR in a nut shell

Moonangie @ 7/28/2015 2:33 PM
Shameful waste of potential. He could be a star in this league, but instead he's a chump. Never want to see him in a Knick uni ever again.

he lacks character and that lack of character does not limit itself to his "career" or "profession," it is who he is as a person.

moreover there are good people that do dumb or bad things and then there are bad people that do dumb and bad things. lets have none of this "hate the sin love the sinner" nonsense.

jr smith is not a good dude he is a bad person.

gunsnewing @ 7/28/2015 4:27 PM
I am revoking your internet privileges for the day CrZy. Just for the notion of JR returning. No way Fish & Phil will go there. For many reasons but primarily because he is unprofessional and can't show up to practice on time and that is a death sentence on a young team and the reason he was shipped out of here

Why the old speed induced 4am bike ride around Manhattan

Too inconsistent with his shooting and defense to ever be a star
buddapaw @ 7/28/2015 11:43 PM
Yeah I could really see that

newyorker4ever @ 7/29/2015 11:50 AM
JR's basketball talents is exactly what this team needs. With his talents he could be the perfect sixth man and be the scoring guard we need to run the second unit. But we all know what comes with having a guy like JR on the team and with the players Phil has added that should all bring great chemistry to the team JR would do nothing but mess that up. He has the talent to be a top guard in the league signing $80 miilion contracts but he's too immature to realize that.
