Wow! Let's see if the other players who shunned Phill suffer similar faiths

Shved went back home and started showing out....Started smelling himself, crossing up all the local street dudes, and injured himself. Thats usually what happens when you go back home with a big paycheck. You get a big head.

Jackson foresees this.

Phil's actually right here--he could definitely get a little stronger, I think it would really help his game. Still would've signed him though. Pluses far outweighed any minuses..We could've used his skill/versatility to play both backcourt positions (a '2 birds with 1 stone' player that makes perfect sense on a team running out of roster spots that's in need of quality depth at PG and SG) and he proved that he could handle NY and thrive in this system. Still fairly young, still has good upside and he wouldn't have been too expensive. Can't really use the argument that Shved's not physically strong enough to keep and then turn around and draft a guy like Porzingis.

Shved will be 27 in December, KP just turned 20.

I wanted Shved to be on the team, if healthy, but at his age you have to wonder if he will ever put on the weight he needs to take the next step as a player.

Clearly, with the money being equal, Shved preferred to be a big fish in a smaller pond. In Russia/Europe he would have been hailed and adored as a superstar, while in the NBA he risked being permanently relegated to a journeyman afterthought status. Appearances do matter in this world (once again, all other things being equal, i.e. the money).
