That alone makes a trustworthy shooter all the more important should ‘Melo develop as a drive-and-dish facilitator. That’s a big if, but Afflalo has thrived in such a situation in the past.

For what it’s worth, Anthony shot above 45.0 percent from the field in 2009-10 and 2010-11—Afflalo’s first two seasons as a full-time starter. He’s done that in just one full season since joining the Knicks.
Both players project to benefit from Afflalo’s arrival.
An efficient Anthony and a consistent Afflalo could go a long way towards pushing New York to the postseason in 2015-16. It could also provide a sense of continuity that’s been missing under Jackson, who’s created more changes than anything else.
Perhaps this is a sign that Anthony can draw free agents to Manhattan.

Calerdon was considered a very accurate shooter and was pretty durable before he got here last season. Now he's a crackhead shooter, who cant stay healthy, that label came after 6 months despite 7 yrs of proving otherwise..smh..crazy
The coach has nothing to do with how a player look physically.. He wasn't the same energy player in Denver or in Portland that he was in Orlando..Ask yourself if the player in Orlando can be had for 8 mil per in this new economic environment?..No...

Be real, the Orlando Afflalo is misleading and that was not the real Afflalo. He was forced to step up and became the first option in MJ's mode. Actually he was heavily criticized by the Magic's fans since he chucked and played ISO.

He's a better defender, better shooter (38.5% 3PT Career), and most importantly....more consistent.
He should average double digits in points with the Knicks easily and play a solid, consistent 2 guard for us...nothing fancy or exciting, just consistent play.

By no means is a player passed their prime at 29/30. Lebron played the best basketball I ever saw in the playoffs. He's everything he was in Miami. Deng is just one example. There are plenty of players, like D Carroll, who break out at age 29. Not saying afflalo is like that, just saying it's not right to say a player doesn't have the ability to play big minutes because he is near 30. For healthy players, 27-32 should be their prime years where skills and IQ meet athletic ability.

Interesting that you mention Deng because his season in Miami is what you hope Afflalo will duplicate here. Deng's game was trending downward and he had a very poor year in 2014 going from Chi to Cle and then he turned it around in Miami to have a bounce back year. Dude had his most efficient year in terms of True shooting of his career.
I do not think Afflalo is as good of a defender as Deng but maybe he can have a bounce back year offensively.

LeBron is unique..There is more to LeBron's game than the physical aspect of basketball but he has lost a step..FG% and some might say his efficiency has slipped a lot as well...He is still the best..DCarrol don't have the mileage...I'm saying he is not the same player as he was in Orlando..I didn't say he can't play big mins..Anyone can play big minutes but what are you getting?..We might even be better team with him playing big minutes as apposed to the rest of the roster..But he still isn't the same player as he was in Orlando...
If you look at Melo, his game isn't dependent on going 100 mph and isn't about his energy play...He is more of a Paul Pierce type player with is based on skills..Melo is a big physical player and has endured...More athletic type whose game depends on their physical attributes will have to adjust as they get older...I think that is what we saw last year with Affalo..He still has value..My point is on a good team, he would be great going all out for 20/25 mins...But asking him to play 33/35 mins of great basketball like Orlando might not be in the cards anymore...But it's just an opinion..

Yeah, I think Thibs ran his players into the ground..They cut his mins in Miami and he still has value..He isn't the energy guy that played in Chicago and has a lessor role, less shots..He probably made the adjustment to his game...I didn't see a lot of him in Miami tho..
