Knicks · Marks says Thanasis's deal is similar to Saunders and Atkins, Knicks still at 13 guaranteed contracts (page 1)

So basically it's gonna be a battle between Thanasis and Wesley Saunders because there's no room for Atkins in the front court. It seems like galloway has no competition as a third string point guard

Galloway is a SG, a nd will likely come off the bench for afflalo, he is a terrible pg.

so if/when Calderon gets hurt, we have one PG in Grant?

For the Triangle, Galloway is more than enough. Really, any guard for small periods of time can function
and ideally, we want combo guards anyway. Don't rule Wesley out here. I like the kid.

Galloway was excellent for us last year at point guard...one of the few bright spots.

Who's the other non guarantee? To my count we have 14 guaranteed players.

Galloway is the other non guarantee. So the Knicks have one open spot. Also just saw Thanasis's guarantee is for $75,000.

Gallo's guarantee deadline date is Sept 15

He's OK as a "lead" guard in our system, not great as a traditional PG, which is not what he was in college.

A true combo-guard at this point in his career.

Funny how some see him as if he is a 5 year veteran on this team with no more upside, and not as a guy who has only played a half season in the NBA.

Galloway was a SG in college, and worked hard enough in DL to make the Knicks and end up as a Second Team All Rookie.

I'm figuring that he still has room to improve...and he will.

Cartman718 @ 8/8/2015 11:45 AM
i am pretty sure he will impress at camp

Little worried about Gallo, didn't seem to add anything to his game this offseason but I know it's tough to show that during SL play. Perhaps we will see something come October.

Gallo still has some upside. I'm hoping that the SL performance was just the quirks of the format and lesser talent in SL. My hope is to eventually replace Jose with a younger and more talented guard who would be behind Jerian. I'm sure that's what Phil hopes he can get done at some point.

Gallo missed a ton of passes where guys are wide open, especially on the break. Not a good sign.

Agreed, however, he will likely end up as a shooting guard off the bench and won't sit behind grant and caledrons in the depth chart. He is a decent shooter for a rookie and playing him their maximize s his ability there. I think people see him as a five year veteran because of his demeanor.

Yeah I saw that. Not sure whether that is selfishness or just a lack of court vision. Gotta hope Fish can get his mind right this year. There will be too much talent for him to pull that with the big team.

What made those some of those passes more noticeable was that a number of them would have been to KP. I remember making a couple of comments about this- vividly remember one play where Porzingis ran the floor and was ahead of Gallo and ready for a pass but Galloway never even saw him.

He also made some knucklehead passes/turnovers.

Funny, though...in SL they did not really run the offense they ran with him last year, and Galloway did not seem to do as well in what was a less structured offensive scheme.

As a "PG" I think he is best suited for the "lead" guard in the Triangle...in the one we ran in the summer I would rather have had Grant running things with Galloway as an off guard.

Maybe there was an issue going on with his wedding plans during SL- perhaps a catering crisis, and this led to his sub-par summer play.

nixluva @ 8/9/2015 2:32 AM
We ran the same stuff last year after the trade, but Gallo wasn't the guard who would make the best use of the Drag Screens at the top. Shved was much more comfortable using the screens. Jerian is great at this as well, since he's a PnR PG. Gallo is probably not going to be as proficient doing that but he still has no excuse for not looking to feed KP or his teammates.

There's just no excuse for any of our guards not to pass in this offense. Everything is predicated on the ball moving. Gallo will see his minutes cut if he doesn't move the ball. I don't think it's gonna be a problem when he sees others playing the right way and he's on the bench more than he'd like.

glad someone pointed this out

Galloway is not a good PG, but the Knicks can still play well with him at that position. He's a great defender and he takes care of the ball. He's not creating anything, but he can some 2 man game and he's got a nice variety of scoring moves.

Look around the league at the 3rd string PGs... I mean some are decent PGs, but cant score or cant defend or are slow, etc etc.. all those guys have holes. Im fine with our 3rd string PG being take care of the ball and play defense role type. In a lot of ways Galloway is what we and the KNicks hoped Toney Douglas would be.. a good defender, scoring guard who could slide between 1/2

Am I the only 1 who thinks Thansis looked putrid in the summer league
