Knicks · ARGH! Why must the basketball gods curse our beloved franchise... (page 1)

During a give-and-take with fans on his Instagram page, Carmelo Anthony hinted that he’s happy with the direction of the New York Knicks and isn’t interested in seeking a trade from the team.

In response to a fan questioning how much he cared about the game, Anthony wrote, “Shows how little you know about me. Staying in NY shows that I do care. If I would have left, what would you have said then? “Oh, Melos wack for leaving. He turned his back on NY”. FOH. You are stuck with me buddy. Deal with it. If you want me gone, I’ll personally walk you into the front office so you can plead your case of the Knicks trading me. Hope you have bail money bc they might have you arrested for Disturbing the Peace.”

One fan wrote that Anthony “shouldn’t listen to the negativity” and should “trust the process” because the Knicks are on the right path.

Anthony’s response? “Best thing I’ve heard all day.”

Anthony’s commitment to the Knicks and his opinion of their offseason transactions have been topics of widespread speculation this summer. Anthony will likely address the offseason for the first time this week in Las Vegas during the Team USA minicamp.

Porzingis chooses number: Kristaps Porzingis revealed on Twitter that he will wear No. 6 this season.

The Knicks’ rookie had worn No. 46 during Summer League because fellow Summer Leaguer Travis Wear wore No. 6.

Wear will not be back with the Knicks in training camp this season, so Porzingis will get to wear the number, which he wore last season with Sevilla.

Porzingis also said in an interview with the New York Post that he hopes to add 10 pounds to his 232-pound frame before training camp starts.

The rookie said he hadn’t done much weight lifting while at home in Latvia over the last two weeks but started working out late last week with a few Knicks, including Anthony.

“It was great, Carmelo’s a great guy. I’ll be able to learn from him a lot,” Porzingis said, according to the team website. “…. He’s a leader, he’s the superstar of the team so it’s great being with him, being around him and working out with him.”

MJ slights Phil: During a question-and-answer session in his camp earlier this month, Michael Jordan was asked which coach he’d choose to coach him in one game.

In giving his answer, Jordan slighted Knicks president and longtime Bulls coach Phil Jackson.

"Dean Smith. Fortunately Dean Smith helped me become the basketball player I am today. Phil was lucky because I was taught the game by Dean Smith," Jordan said.

PLEASE! #DontStayMe7o #bullyseason #Whatmustbesaidmustbespokenoninstagramsotheworldthinksicare

On a positive note, I like the 2nd degree burn doled out by Jordan on Phil. Picking Dean over him for 1 game coach.

Phil slights MJ, and he slights back! Love the drama! Next thing you know Pippen is going to post something to Phil, "why you always slighting MJ, and not me!"

Well even if you wanted Melo to get traded this isn't bad news cause at least he sounds like he's buying into what's going on, so a happy melo is much better then a angry melo.

Ehhh, IG talk and letting his play talk has been his problem his whole career.

Never sacrificed his buckets like Paul Pierce did.

TheloniusMonk @ 8/11/2015 10:51 AM
^^^^^^Pierce sacrificed his buckets to a couple hall of famers. When Pierce had no one to pass to during that horrible "Fire Doc" season, he sacrificed nothing nor was he expected to. He was playing with bums.

assists:

2002 4.4
2003 5.1
2004 4.2
2005 4.7
2006 4.1

he did a lot of sacrificing ... he moved that damn ball. How could he have gotten all those assists with such a crappy team?

Please stop the Me7o dikriding.

If Me7o ever averages 4 or 5 assists a game as a Knick it will be a first. Then we can actually say he sacrificed his game for the betterment for the team.

Playing the right way is why so many of us are disillusioned by #7. He can pass, chooses not to at times.

If we see more of this this year, his ISO play is so easily defended.

Pack the paint, and watch those long inefficient 2's brick out repeatedly. Play triangle and ball movement bball, and it's easier for everyone, Me7o included.

The evolution of Carmelo must be cerebral for him to be a true success. He already has all the physical attributes and skills; he just needs to develop his court vision to share the ball a little more. In 2016, Carmelo has to layoff the scoring mentality a little and do other things to make others better. With a better supporting and more intelligent cast, we might just be blessed enough to see THAT Carmelo

All 5 celtics are supposed to have their eye on the ball no? Looks a bit like a Cavs set from the finals.

yeah ... there are much better pictures and footage out there of melo being a pig with the ball.

More ball hoggery:

Like I've been trying to say...12 seasons and continues to have tunnel vision. Shoot first, shoot 2nd, and maybe pass if there's a hard triple team coming.

mreinman @ 8/11/2015 11:57 AM
but the issue is that even when a hard triple team is coming, he does not pass when they are "coming", he passes when they are already there and he has no choice.

Right, he does suffer from bouts of tunnel vision. Hasn't quite shaken that bad habit...I guess ever.

Instagram chat as therapy for a star dealing with an outspoken fanbase and beleaguered franchise. Haha... hey, whatever it takes to get Melo motivated and his mind right for 82+ games.

As for the MJ "slight" of Phil, come on. Dean Smith was a legend, a true maker of men. Of course that acknowledgement turns into a dis in the media. Yawn.

nixluva @ 8/11/2015 12:21 PM
Melo being happy and hopefully more healthy is a good thing for NY. He's going to get some of that Olympic exposure which tends to be good for him as well. The system we run now should help Melo as long as the players we have around him can function at a higher level than the guys we started with last year.

I believe the team is much improved around him. It's not a bunch of big names, but the players have the right skills and mental approach to the game. I expect Melo to have a good year and play more in the flow of the offense this year. There should be far less forced shots IMO.

I'm sure that Phil doesn't really care about what MJ said. Dean Smith did do a good job with his players. Also Phil knows that MJ didn't win a Title without him so...

set lower expectations. I will be happy with just 1 more assist per game (preferably in the second half - he seems to get most of his assists in the fourth quarter).

Melo playing in the flow doesn't mean he has to increase his assists per se. It's about when and how he looks to score. Ball movement doesn't mean that the pass you make is going to lead directly to a shot. That's not really how the Triangle works once they get into it. Yes early offense will have more of a bang bang nature to the pass leading to a score, but once they start the Triangle motion and get into the actions, the setting up of the defense means the ball is moved and players are cutting to create the open shot.

Melo is going to be one of the players they're looking to work the ball to, in order to score. Still he's going to be in position to make passes that lead to scores for his teammates and I believe he will!!! Those pictures above are not Triangle sets. In this offense there will be more motion around Melo as opposed to simply standing behind the 3pt line. There are more Cuts and flashing to the Elbow. IMO Melo will increase his assists this year without having to make any difficult passes. The hand offs and passes in the Triangle are very simple and I expect that Melo will become proficient in making those passes the longer he plays in this system.

I hope that you man up if this does not happen and you don't just make excuses for him.

His play always speak otherwise.
