We all Homers and think knicks get dissed in the media. Most of the time it has proven itself to be more accurate then not.
In time, I will all get sorted out. If KP can show some big upside and Melo is at the top of the game and knicks can squeak in playoffs it would go a long way toward not just a star player, but also the "Mark West" kind of guys that got their money but want a chance at a ring.
Until then Phish and Co. have to their Zen on and do it on the court. Who cares what SAS thinks, the dude just wants to create some drama where there is none. Even if Melo was upset, it was a private matter and there was no verification and thus no drama.
Durant and KP would be a deadly SF/PF tandem since both can score from anywhere and make plays for the other. Like Jordan/Pippen and Kobe/Shaq

At this point in his career, Durant is a power forward. Do the Knicks really need another PF? If the Knicks really wanted Durant or thought they could get him, they would have taken a wing in the last draft, not Zinger.

I said we had a chance at Durant once we hired Fisher and OKC's assistant. I believe it then and believe it now, this was part of Phils plan. This is Phils type of win/win decisions.....And this is why Fisher is the head coach, along with this triangle knowledge.
I believe if Durrants wants to be like Lebron, he's going to DC. But going to NY is just like going to DC, since it's only a 3.5 hr drive. If Durrant is a historian like Kobe, chasing history....what better history is there to be the one star that brought the knicks out of thier championship drought.

OK....just wanted to get that out, because I listen to the Stephen A. Smith link.....I actually like him and Skip.......They usually say what other people are afraid to say. Especially Stephen A. Smith and Charles Barkley. People hate them because they speak their mind....Whether is right or wrong.....Imagine if I could walk around my job and just say whats really on my mind......I would be fired in seconds. Well Durrant and Zinger can play multiple positions.....So thats not an issue. The question is can All 3 play together? Melo, Durrant, Zinger.....Either somebody has to play SG or somebody has to play Center.
You can't draft based on free agency, without a signed written agreement from Durrant. Just like Lebron, worst case, Durrant is either staying or going to DC.

I think that Zinger and Grant are a ways away from helping guys like Melo and Durant win anything...I agree with most that said the KP may be a few years away..I think most here underestimate how difficult it is to get acclimated to playing a 82 game schedule...KP's conditioning in summer league doesn't seem like a guy ready to contribute in May and June after his first season of a 82 game NBA season...I think it will take him some time to adjust to the schedule while trying to strengthening his body for the NBA game..

Yup...perfect situation, to be honest.
Durant is only 6 years older than KP- assuming he is injury free and he plays at a high level until at least 32/3, you are talking 6/7 years on the team (I would hope) Their age-match is pretty good- and as Durant slows down Porzingis would, in theory, be moving into his prime.
Have my doubts about this situation actually becoming reality, but it would work perfectly if you are trying to create a successful franchise that will outlast Phil's tenure with the Knicks.
Durant might be influenced by what westbrook does. Im not sure he even thinks he can win with him but they certainly can't if he leaves.
Kanter was a big pick up for them as it finally gives them a big presence offensively with Ibaka.
What OKC did firing Brooks was a bit sneaky by that making Durant help pick Donovan, or at least making him part of the process gives him one excuse he can't use to leave and since he has buy in for picking Donovan he kind of owns it, and if he owns it, he looks bad if he leaves.
And lets be fair, he is an international star even in OKC, so leaving makes him look bad his sponsors might not be so encouraging. The "going home" thing is cute and could work. I mean, who hates a guy that wants to be with family? Even if it means playing with John Wall!!!
All things equal, he'll have many teams to choose from with increasing cap but salaries will be increasing as well so its going to be interesting. My take is if Durant does not sign extension and is healthy they will trade him.
If he does not verbally commit he'll be traded. Granted, he can change his mind but they will pressure him. Basically its easy, if he wants to stay he'll get paid. If not, they will label him as the bad guy, right or wrong and get a good haul in return for him. He'll have to agree to resign with the team he gets traded to. It could be Durant commits but wants Westbrook moved who really is a flight risk to LA and they could take back Russell its westbrook who is "Coming home". This gives Donovan time and Durant can mentor him.
Big bold predictions rarely come to fruitions. Odds are they resign him and can always work a trade down the road if need be. OKC on paper might be the best in the West and that alone should be lure for Durant to stay for now.
Knicks I doubt are "BANKING" on any free agent yet alone Durant. But a boy can dream aloud.
Imagine Knick fans going on another Lebronathon circa 2010 if KD lets slip that he's narrowed it down to OKC, DC, and New York.
It wouldn't just be another NBA 2K16 pipe dream and the road to a title would be that much closer....

because melo won't be able to figure out how to play in the triangle and will ask to be traded. a spot will open up for durant who is an ideal fit in the triangle, something melo will never be. by summer of 2017 kristaps will have had two seasons under his belt.
if durant can maintain his health i would look forward to seing a lopez, kristaps, durant front line.
maybe we get a good draft pick at shooting guard that summer too.

build an attractive team for a marquee talent to come to and he will come. porzingis doesn't have to be someone to build "around" but build "with." you have a singularly bass-ackward way of viewing the game itself and how to build a winner.
