Knicks · Sounds like the Knicks had a shot at Aldridge (page 3)

sometimes you make me think that you are SAS
Popovich must be a tool for recruiting Aldridge..
the conversation likely took place between aldridge and pop and duncan.
"i want to win"
"yes we know you want to win, and so do we. we can teach you how to play the right way... but your game needs tightening up."
"yes i know it does. i am looking forward to the challenge."
"we don't have anyone play more than 30 minutes a game so your personal numbers will drop and meanwhile you will have to give much more effort on defense and box out more. this is how you win."
"i agree. where do i sign?"
If he wants to win he should stay clear of the team the Phil is running...30 wins where we come...
yes thirty wins is about right. i think 31-34 is realistic. why is this a problem for you? melo has his money. stephen a smith was right about one thing at least: melo loves his money. and your belief is that because he is unimaginably wealthy he has already won. so what's the problem?
I'm about winning..Not the nonsense you try to direct the conversation to...Winning..Notice, I'm happy when we are winning..I hate losing...You are the complete opposite...
are you denying that you said "melo got paid so he has already won?"
That certainly sounds like something I would say..But what was the context, you calling him a loser??..Stupid BS that you are accustomed to doing..Trying to take the conversation in another direction as usual..Losers tolerate losing..Melo and Adridge with the right supporting cast make us contenders in the East..Just plain stupid..
But we are going after Durant and that makes sense right..
so you admit it. kooky. now why try and deflect by saying "what was the context?" it is crystal clear you equate fu money with winning so by definition nothing else matters. am i right? goddamned right i'm right.
i do not equate fu money with winning... i equate winning with winning. frazier winning, manning winning, jeter winning. not player of the month, all-star appearance, 3rd team all-nba, and scoring titles, 54-28 and other jayvee season tin plated nonsense.
so you see when you go on about "i care about winning" you are being a hypocrite. why? easy: you think that melo should be able to get fu money AND win titles.
he doesn't have enough talent, skill, or leadership to get both.
real talk

Not necessary. Are you saying that when many suggested that you didn't watch the Knick games during the 54 win season that you didn't say, I will watch the Knicks when they are worth my time and that you didn't call the Knicks success 'fools gold'?
i admit that i said those things but your inference is ridiculous.
just to prove how ridiculous, why not try to show how that is the same as saying "i root against the knicks."

Yet we were the last team he was interested in meeting with. And the Spurs already had Duncan, Parker, Leonard, Ginobli, Green and Pop with no real need to recruit anyone else. Then there is the fact that if anyone he was recruiting was worth anything like say Matthews. They would both need to take pay cuts. Which wasn't going to happen this off season.
Melo Aldridge Stein would have been a great front court on paper

If you really believe that he would have signed with us over the ready made Spurs then so be it, Its your choice to stress over something that wasn't really likely.
LMA is gonna make 20+mil, Players like Matthews are gonna make 16mil per.

I just posted 3 players who will be scubs for us making 22 mil, more than SA is paying Aldridge..I never said we could get Mathews after that..But beyond that, we signed Saraphin and Affalo plus 2 scubs from last year..

And it continues..Other threads, this forum..
And again dk7th/tfk doesnt answer when confronted with a direct question. Their best defense is to answer a question with a question. AGAIN dk7th/tkf, did you watch the game?? Yes or no.
Well, dk7th/tkf did you watch the game last night? A simple question,a simple answer is required.
I ask again, did you watch the game? One of the most ridiculous things I have ever seen posted here,
All we ask for is an answer.
Instead, they pass on Mudiay in favor of a prospect playing the same position as LMA, which puts them out of contention for LMA, and Melo, after putting in an effort to help his team recruit a proven superstar, sees his prospects of contending for a championship in what has been left of his prime years evaporate. No wonder he has been pissed off, and the fact that he swallowed up his pride and went on to publicly support the team's moves, even if he disagreed with them, and though they ran contrary to his career aspirations, speaks volumes about his incredible commitment, decency and class.
Honestly, I think even though the Knicks gave Melo his max $$$, it was unfair for them to force him to be part of a long term rebuilding project. I honestly believe that had Jax made it clear to him that he was going to sign him to the max, only to then gut the team and drop deep into lottery territory, Melo would have taken LESS money and gone to the Bulls or the Rockets.
And the degree of Melo-bashing is getting ridiculous and, quite frankly, tiresome. We have a scorer extraordinaire on our team, that fact that the Knicks cannot figure out how to use him to maximize his talents, and how to build a proper roster around his strengths is the organization's fault, not Melo's. I am beginning to think that we do not deserve to have players of Melo's talent and committment on the Knicks.
mreinman wrote:I am tickled pink that we have KP over him.Aldridge at the max would have made me puke and left me absolutely nothing to root for. I want to develop our own stud.
I wanted no part of Aldridge, I was flabbergasted that the Spurs signed him
dk7th wrote:holfresh wrote:Truly Amazing...Have to post Aldridge quote again...
They were saying they wanted me to be more of a center to let their guy develop and I just wasn’t looking to be that,” Aldridge said. “So I was looking to play power forward, and they weren’t really interested…“Melo and I talked a little bit over text and we have mutual friends that passed messages along. I was interested,” Aldridge said. “I talked to other guys to see if they were interested in going there too. I was interested but when they say they want me to play a position that I don’t want to play, I get it.”
sorry but jackson is here to serve the best interests of the knicks medium and long term not carmelo anthiny short term.
pretty obvious that jackson sees no chance of winning a title in new york with carmelo.i see what he sees and jacskon's actions speak louder than words. the draft of porzingis confirmed jackson's overarching vision just as it sealed melo's fate. kudos to clarence gaines jr. for letting jackson know that porzingis is a "once in a lifetime opportunity."
carmelo got his fu money it's up to him to show some character for once. he wants to be a digital superstar and a mogul in retirement then god bless him. can't blame aldridge for not wanting to come to new york in a rebuild. better to hitch his wagon to a proven winner now and learn how to play basketball the right way under duncan and popovich's mentoring.
everybody wins except holfresh ha ha ha
Well said, Porzinigs will be better than Aldridge anyway

If LMA was that seriously interested then he would have had his reps contact the Knicks right before the draft so that moves could be made to build a team with him.
So Melo had KP over working out in his own gym.
So Melo has organized workouts with the new players
Do any of these actions constitute leadership? Positive culture? Naaaaa.... why go there and upset the anti-Melo jihadists
DK is the most honest and knowledgable poster here. I find the lack of faith in this disturbing.
Looking forward to the season

No doubt Melo is working hard off season and doing the right things, lets hope that this translates on the court. If Melo can really get into the team concept of things(while scoring a little bit more effciently), I don't have to slightest doubt in my mind that we are a 500 team.
