Even then he was a jerk and not dependable when we needed him most. He's just too much of a wild card and too streaky. You can't trust him and I'm glad he's gone. SO much talent waisted. He's a dude that could've been so much more if he was focused.

smith is sooffft as charmin, physically and mentally.

JR was never my type of player. He goes hot on offense two out of ten games and does nothing else to offset his inconsistent offensive production. He is a very bright dude, but he is missing a screw in his head.

Yeah but there was a time that season (February?) where he looked like he could get close to a max deal.

That's kind of my point. He has so much talent and showed that he could be a top contributor, but he's also very unreliable and his judgment is awful.

People really trying to re-write JR's history here? Max Deal? GTFOH.
Guy was coked out of his mind the eve of a playoff game partying with Rihanna at like 4 in the morning!
WaltLongmire@ 9/10/2015 11:16 AM
That team had a lot of graybeards to keep him in line during the season...at least on the court.
Guy is an idiot and underachiever, but that season gave you an idea of what he could have been- took the pressure of the playoffs to show his true nature, but you can't take overlook his contribution to the team that year.
Guy has no discipline or sense of responsibility, and you just can't depend on him as you move up the playoff ladder- history shows that, for the most part, as the games get bigger, he gets smaller.

Don't mean to add facts to the discussion but he was playing on a blown out knee..Same injury as Melo..

Don't mean to intrude with facts but this picture was the Sunday night after a game, the next game was Wednesday..So your 'eve' of game commentary is patently false..
Knicks1969@ 9/10/2015 11:45 AM
Regardless, JR is no longer here; thank God
holfresh@ 9/10/2015 11:47 AM
Cavs is saying thank god JR and Shump helped them get to the Finals...

Did I mention they make wonderful scapegoats...So we should have no problems this year correct??..No more excuses...
ChuckBuck@ 9/10/2015 12:56 PM
Anyone defending JR Smith after his "illustrious" history as a Hornet, Nugget, Knick, Cavalier is just being a certified turd burglar. He's everything that is wrong with the league.
Ain't no defense for that loser.

Shet played in the Finals last year and was a big reason his team was there...

No, Lebron was the ONLY reason CLE was in the finals, that and injuries to ALT. JR played his part, off the bench, and inconsistently. That's his role. Happenstance of being in the right place on a team with Love, Irving and Lebron doesn't make you a player or a big reason.

What was Cleveland's record before the trade??..JR and Shump played a big role in the drive towards the playoffs...Their defense was actually the difference...Of couse JR is inconsistent..If he wasn't he would be a top 20 player...
ChuckBuck@ 9/10/2015 2:07 PM
The REAL reason Lebron made the finals for the 5th straight year!
