Hollis-Jefferson is learning a fast lesson in life: there's nothing fun about paying taxes. In an interview with the Wall Street Journal's Alex Raskin, Hollis-Jefferson was refreshingly honest and opened up about money, but not in a Latrell Spreewell "I have a family to feed" kind of way, but more in a, "welcome to the real world" kind of way.
"People know they can talk to me about anything," he said. "But when it comes to money, I’m like, ‘I don’t have it.’ That’s my go-to line."
To some extent, that is true. His first paycheck, while larger than any he had ever received, still fell short of expectations.
"When I saw the check, I saw half of the money was gone," Hollis-Jefferson said, referring to the taxes and other dues extracted from his paycheck. "And being in New York, more than half was gone. I was like, ‘Who do I call here? What’s going on?’ "

From Turbo Tax:Alaska, Florida, Nevada, South Dakota, Texas, Washington, and Wyoming don't levy an income tax. If you're a resident of one of these states, you don't need to file a return in that state.
In addition, New Hampshire and Tennessee only tax interest and dividend income, not wages or earnings.
So we are only talking about 3 states with 6 teams...no?

Miami

Move out of the City and rent a house in the Burbs..U save on city residential taxes and don't have to pay property taxes while your kids go to good schools for free..If you buy in the city, you pay property tax plus may have to put your kids in private school..A coworker of mine was quoted 50k for pre-school on the Upper Eastside for his 2 year old who first needed to be interviewed..Full family needed to be present..
It should be mandatory for every new class of rookies (from college) to watch ESPN's "Broke". If they avoid the pitfalls of the players in this documentary, the taxes will be a lot easier to deal with.

To be fair pre-school is not mandatory and there are cheaper options and schools that give financial aid. Now once it's time to go to kindergarten that's where the city has a Byzantine, F'ed up system. If you're in the wrong hood the main public school is probably a nightmare and you have to pray that your child gets into one of the smaller lottery public schools if you don't want to pay for private.
Thing is you work, you gotta pay taxes. You have an estate, or kids or a job with no benefits you have to put money aside. That's called life in this world we live.
Just because you have money doesn't mean you need to spend it. That's a good philosophy to keep no matter where you ate in life. But the new iPhone came out.... gotta have that
