Interesting that Mills was involved in this fashion.

Assume that there was some kind of FA discussion meeting where this was chewed on, and Mills/Fish wanted the Frenchman over the Rusky.

I'm always assuming that Gaines would be involved in this kind of player acquisition discussion, too, and I'm assuming that we have some other talent evaluators.

Would love to be a spectator at this kind of meeting.

Too much is made out of these reports. Just like stephan a smith reports that melo was mad about the pick. Then he is heavily recruiting durant. Then Durant is supposed to want to play with the Lakers. Is like come on.

As fans we need to stop listening to these reports and going so hard about them. I have Co workers that use these little things to form long drawn out debates. It's pathetic. "You heard the news? Mills convinced Phil to sign Seraphin"... like come on. This isn't the "Facts of life"... Joe isn't influencing Tutti to smoke cigarettes. It's ridiculous.

My advice is to ignore the beat writers entirely. Ignore most of espn. Skim through bleacher report.... download the Knicks app and watch the same interviews that these stupid reporters make all these fluff articles about. Fabricated bullshit.

Maybe as a former championship winning PG, Fisher couldn't stomach more passes from Shved into the 20th row. More help in the frontcourt makes it easier not to overuse Porzingis. Fish probably also wants more live bodies to throw at some of the better bigs in the league. Last season probably had something to do with the decision as well.

Once Ndour headed to the Mavs and Shved decided to play hard ball, I think the Knicks should have made a play for Bargnani. They already had two bangers down low in OQuinn and Lopez so someone who would suit the triangle and score with some consistency made sense.

Ndour would have been nice but Seraphin is a seasoned pro. Injuries happen and having three bigs (RoPez, O'Quinn and Seraphin) is a nice trio.
KP is under no pressure should one or both get slowed by injuries. Not hating on Shved, but the kid is the highest paid europlayer now and while have accepted a pay cut to stay, I think all is happy. Roster has a nice balance to it.

Is John Gabriel still around? Warkentein is, so there is lots of talent along with gaines.

Should be interesting to see what becomes of N'dour.

Wish we could've had both, Seraphin AND Shved. I don't know who was saying it, Nixluva maybe -- we effectively replaced Shved with Grant as that bigger skilled 1/2 with some versatility. I guess that's true--Grant's even more a true point over Shved. And I like the Afflalo signing a lot. To me, AA is basically a souped-up, much higher % version of JR Smith. Much more mature off the court with a much better head on his shoulders too. So those were two very good moves to upgrade the backcourt. Not that it makes me forget about Shved but those two make losing him a little easier...I'd still argue we could've used that 1 more skilled guard to complement but maybe we do have enough -- I guess it all depends on what we can get out of Calderon, Galloway and then one of the following: Saunders vs. TA. Hopefully Calderon has a bounce back year (if not, hopefully Grant steps up and Jose can be fazed out to a 3rd PG reserve role, probably the ideal scenario anyway); hopefully Langston continues to make strides toward being a competent all-purpose triangle guard in the Derek Fisher mold and then hopefully either Saunders surprises and shows he actually is an NBA player that can utilize his size/strength and shooting ability and then hopefully TA continues to make strides toward becoming something close to Gerald Wilkins (worst case)/Andre Iguodala (best case)--that ultra-athletic 6'6" wing that can lock down opposing 2s & 3s along with supplying some offense. I see a lot has been written about the Grant/Galloway matchup in camp -- to me, those two are already on the team and already have defined roles pretty much. A more intriguing matchup might be TA vs. Saunders -- those two are fighting it out for the last spot and bring different things to the table. It'll be interesting to see who has the better camp and whose skills fill the greater need & fit the team better.

Ahh, forgot about Sasha for a sec.. Obviously in the mix as well, maybe the front runner to make the team outta the few wings fighting for a spot...Phil's talked about him like he's an automatic in fact.. Have to see what he has left. Dude is still fairly young--I think he's only 31.

I wonder what our options are with Thanasis--looks like we gave him enough guaranteed money where if he had to take a DL role again at Westchester, he would (probably wouldn't be thrilled with it), but I'm not sure if we'd retain his rights. If TA doesn't wind up making the 15-man, would we lose exclusivity with him? Not sure. Anyone know?

At 31 he is a role player (with a guarantee contract) can be part of the team for afew years as a specialist that if hot can change a game. Im sure we'll see situations where it will be questioned when subbed out after a nice run not understanding the rotation. He has championship pedigree with Phil and Fish as well as having worked with the coach's. Should be a good fit if he can put the ball in the hoop!!!!!

It sounds like Sasha had a really good practice today. It would be great if he turned out to be a good rotation player.

If he can shoot like Novak (about 40.00 3P%) but do it from the SG position instead of the PF position, he will be an excellent piece
