That graphic is all you need to brighten your day and outlook on the New York Knicks.
How does that help us win?

I think it's just about keeping perspective. Things could be a LOT worse. We've come thru the worst part of things and now have a shot to build a more productive future for this franchise. Phil still needs to look to acquire some 2nd rd picks over the next few seasons, but after this draft we at least own all of our 1st rd. picks.
New York KnicksFirst Round Picks:
2016 - More favorable of NYK and DEN to DEN then other to TOR (via DEN swap for NYK)
2017 - Own
2018 - Own
2019 - Own
2020 - Own
2021 - Own
2022 - Own
2023 - Own
Second Round Picks:
2016 - To HOU (via POR to SAC then removal of protection from NYK)
2017 - To UTH (via TOR); HOU
2018 - Less favorable of NYK and LAC then other to PHL (via PHL swap of LAC for NYK)
2019 - Own
2020 - To PHL
2021 - To PHL
2022 - Own
2023 - Own
I know a lot of NBA people like to ridicule Jackson as putting the system ahead of the players... but a fan I love that there is a system in place as well as guidelines for finding the right types of guys and the types of players that will be successful in the system. I am not expecting much this year. I am at least excited to watch this team play this year and next year and the year after that and that's the first time in a while I can recall saying that

It's most definitely a process! Phil has said that he wants to build a real solid foundation and from what i'm seeing he is doing that. He's starting with Size and Defense. He's focused Smart players who are more team oriented. It's not a sexy roster but at least we can see the focus and direction this franchise is headed. Now the Knicks have to develop the young talent and mold them into winners. It should be fun to watch.

I don't know about you, but it helps me win as a fan. It feels good to read this over and over again. Whenever I'm feeling down about the knicks, I will book mark this thread to help me win again!
I could never understand or get with that perspective...Somehow I'll feel better at someone else plight...If anything it might hurt us from the standpoint that both franchises operate in the same competitive marketplace...If the Nets slack off then we might slack off as well by not going after that next player or trying to sure up our front office and scouts...If our threshold is the Nets, then just win the narrative in town and we are good??..I think a good Net team keeps us on our toes...

It helps us, because it shows us 2 franchises going in opposite directions.
Nets are screwed, no hope, no future, no draft picks.
Knicks have hope, have planted seeds and foundation, and own all our draft picks.
Graphic shows things could be infinitely worst, example our shytty cross town rival. Day 1 stuff really.

I agree, but I think your looking at it from a fans perspective.
The exception was the 54 win team to counteract the Nets move to brooklyn and Dolan panicked by it. The Bargnani deal might have been the tipping point for Dolan to get out of the decision process. He certainly sought to outbid Brooklyn for Melo!!!
I think it is far better to have a rivalry with a worthy opponent and play meaningful games. Both teams suck has no purpose toward playoffs. In fact, it would be great to have a "subway" series in the playoffs!
