fisher lamented that many of those losses last year were by 5 points or less. i checked and there were twelve games that melo played in in those first 30. if he were in better shape he would be able to make plays.
so how do you know this? How can you tell the level of shape a player is in?
Also, what level of shape is each player on the Knicks?
by comparing him to his alleged peers.
So compared to other guys top 5 in minutes with player of the month awards in April how does he compare?

this is an irrelevant question.
The Cap will rear its head before long. If there is a transaction and depending on how grant and Galloway play, Calderon will be a chip as will early and perhaps Thanasis. Sasha will get some playing time as he's a former Laker who won two rings, knows the triangle and has some depth on his jumper. You can also afford to package with a big as the Knicks now have plenty up front and want to have more room under cap for next year than they will now. (About $18.8)

Not if you make statements like this.

nonsense. melo usually starts off in okay shape-- as in not supreme or elite-- and then gains during the season.

I find your initial answer irrelevant. How? How can you tell?
