If we were not in a big need for a guard, I would definitely take a chance with him.

philly beats Minny by 10.

Ish smith was great and they did better when Ok4 sat

crzymdups @ 1/4/2016 9:56 PM
My son, Ish Smith, had 21pts 11ast 4reb 3stl tonight. Philly 3-3 with Ish. 1-30 pre-Ish.

You've been won over by the cult of ISH?

edit: and, yeah, OK4 is looking less and less like a valuable NBA starter. I'm so glad the Knicks got KP over him, which before the draft I would've been shocked were the case.

I do wonder how much of it is D'Antoni - it's almost like he can pinpoint a specific skillset in his PGs and maximize the heck out of their offensive potential.

But, like I said earlier, I saw Ish in New Orleans earlier this season and he impressed me.

BRIGGS @ 1/4/2016 10:05 PM
A guy who can control the ball and make plays in the game right now is the most crucial piece. The more I watch all the teams the more I realize how important it is to have guys who can make plays with the dribble pass shoot or drive. Jose is a spot shooter and control player--he doesnt have that next gear either way.

All the rules/style of play in the league are geared toward guard play right now.

Why? Cuz of his PHX run and he basically coached steve nash to consecutive MVP seasons? Authored "Linsanity"?

Or his 3.5 year run in NY Starting with Isiah's castoffs and then post Melo depleted roster?
The guy Collangelo hired in PHX and has been the offensive coach for Team USA for coach K? Or the guy that did not know what to do with Z-bo?

First off nobody asked him if he wanted Melo, and if asked he might have said "No, not my kind of player". This was a Dolan thing.
The other thing Melo was not exactly that open to change as it was either. Seems MDA's talents are still in demand and have been emulated which is a high form of flattery.
There was a window when Felton and Amare played great. Team pre Melo was .500.

Oh, and when the godfather of the modern offense was here most of y'all could not wait to get him out the door!!!!

Woodson and Grunwald cobbled together a raggedy team that won 54 games but fell aged out by seasons end. Is that what you want? A short term patchwork team or a real team?

Knicks are only building a base at this time, that's still a big job!

I can understand not loving D'Antoni as a Knicks coach... but for his first two years he was given a garbage team and told to play for draft picks, he got one half of a season with a roster he wanted... then half that roster was traded to Denver by Mr. Dolan. MDA got royally screwed here if you ask me.

I cannot understand denying the impact his offense has had on the league and his ability to lift PG's games with his offensive ideas. (Not saying you're doing that, but some others are...)

I agree - I am happier to build a base.

Fantastic passer I might add. His poor shooting over the season is really the main thing that has been letting him down offensively.

This seems to have some legs to it. Would love to see D'Antoni with Isaiah Thomas but not sure how he would handle all of the dysfunction in phoenix. A Suns blogs is posting trade scenarios involving moving Tyson and why other teams would give up good young players to have the luxury of 33 yr old Tyson and his 4 yr 52 mil contract.

Oops not Thomas.
