What was up with drafting Jordan Hill? Jennings was the guy there. I always felt that D'Antoni didn't want to deal with Jennings needing mentoring and structure. How does a guy that relies on point guards not draft Jennings when he has Duhon running the point. I still wonder where the Knicks would be if they drafted Bropez over Gallo and Jennings over Hill.

maybe he predicted jennings would suck?

Not a kid-he's going to be 28 in about 2 weeks...he's also the reigning MVP, and he did his celebration...only seemed to go a bit overboard, IMO.

Game was not over, by the way- he should have been in his team huddle talking about how they were going to defend OKC's final shot.

Oscar Robertson was right about one thing though...why does OKC not start covering Curry at half court? Don't know who the defender was, but he had dropped back to the 3 point line and was waiting for Curry until he realized that Curry was going to take the long 3.

Somebody should have been dogging Curry as soon as he got the ball

yes you're right about the game not being over. point still holds about the refs resisting giving him a tech. and i agree with oscar robertson-- i always prefer pressing an those guys were indeed falling back.... but you risk fouling him, giving him two or three free throws anyway: he shoots 90% from the foul line. you're screwed either way with curry. again the young man could end up being a top 3 player all-time.

Holiday, Teague, and Lawson were also available, as was Collison. You could have also traded out of 8 and gotten one of those guys. Could have also taken DeRozan.

I wasn't a Jennings fan...

Was Derozan drafted after Hill? I know Holiday went 18,19. Jennings was on a radio show right before the draft and sounded really immature. I think that hurt him and might have caused the Knicks not to draft him. Immature with character issues and needing mentoring didn't fit with what the coach was looking for. However, Hill is the guy that has had trouble staying out of trouble. Choking, driving etc. I was not a fan of D'Antoni.

DeRozan #9, that year.

Strange pick...no doubt about it. Was it Walsh or MDA, though?

I was interested in Holiday, who was very young physically-not sure MDA would have liked his outside shot at the time. Pretty sure we asked him in twice for workouts.

And yup...Hill turned out to be guy with some questionable character- never really improved as a player, either, which is more upsetting for me.

I think they were caught completely off guard when Curry wasn't there. They didn't have a second guard on their list.

It was a great draft for guards, too, sadly.

Sigh, this feels like the time of year these types of injuries start to happen. Poor Gallo.

That would be a tremendous signing for them. I expect to see a lot of that funky shot this spring if he ends up with the Spurs.

I don't think signing Andre Miller or Kevin Martin helps the Spurs beat the Warriors. I honestly don't get those moves.

Russell looking good. Great game against the Nets.

Yeah, it seemed like he'd finally get it at some point.

Just came in here to post this -

The Warriors basically got away with one against the Hawks....see the Hawks are not the best team in the East...but at least they are a team.

The were down 95-90 on the road against a team that has not lost at home. And still sent the game to overtime at 97-97 in the last 2.5 mins. By the way...there were some questionable no-calls in favor of the Warriors in those last 2.5 mins that would have given them their first loss at home all season if it was called.

The most interesting comment from the game...?
Since the losses to the Knicks to start the year, this team has played the best defense in terms of opposition points scored.
THAT is a team that gets fired up from losses and just refuses to lose consistently.
THEIR coach had the balls to bench Teague in favor or Schroeder in the critical mins of the 4th quarter AND OT against the best team in the league.

Meanwhile, our 2 coaches....lets continue to play 35 yr old Calderon as a starting PG.

Stephon Marbury has his own stamps in China. The crazy dude has finally found peace 7000 miles away. Who would have ever thought after the vaseline and stripper pole videos?

Wow...just found this out.

He was having a pretty good year.

Guy is snake bit...no doubt about it.

I guess we now know that Stein can jump higher than Zach Randolph.

Pretty sure that you liked this guy before the draft...No?...but he has not shown himself to be anything special this year.

He's been lucky to have Rondo dishing to him, but he's shown none of the versatility on the offensive end that he was boasting about prior to the draft.

Kings should have taken Turner and not tried to placate Cousins with Stein, IMO.

The way I remember this is it was all Walsh. Also I know we talk about Steph a lot, but I also remember that we (like many teams) were in love with Rubio, but knew he wouldn't come over right away and that he would be gone before we picked in our slot.

Well, I'm happy David Lee is happy he's out of Boston. He's looked okay, maybe even pretty good, in Dallas, so far. Plus, he's just looked happy on the court the couple of minutes I've tuned in to Dallas :)
