Watched most of the Minny/Bucks game...all of Monroe vs Towns.

Takeaways:

Towns outplayed him, and was able to deal with Monroe down low for the most part. Monroe had a few points and a couple of nice passes, but the most of the shots he attempted were hook shots and lay-ins...the one J he took Towns swatted it away.

Except for a charge, Monroe had little impact on D, and he looks extremely slow out there.

Towns did not look like a rookie, and was not overwhelmed by Monroe trying to use his strength to back him down.

Towns looked very good in the post, with maybe one or two poor shots. Much more varied game in the post than OK4, to be honest. Some smooth jump hooks and effortless short jumpers. He can also pass out of the post, set good picks, and seems to know how to move without the ball.

Monroe looked strong physically, but very slow, and I don't think he had any kind of intimidation presence at the 5.

My understanding is that Jabari Parker was a terrible defender at Duke. Not sure how he is now...but that does not make me think he and Monroe will be a good paring as two of your front line defenders.

So now we know why Sullinger put on all that extra padding...

Interesting numbers when you look at the Cavs and Phily. Cavs pay a higher penalty than the total salaries being paid out by 3 teams.

Not sure, but I think "dead money" is the money you are paying to guys who are not on your 15 man roster. Looks like Hinkie is paying over 40% of his money to guys who will not be on the court for the 76ers.

LeBron is already on the floor stretching his back. Thought about sitting down, but changed his mind. Plenty of great players were done in by a bad back. I guess we'll see what happens.

Noah is coming off the bench to start the season. I think he is an FA next season, would love to bring him here if the price was right. He grew up in NYC.

my fav NBA player but I am not sure what he has left.

A great team player and over achiever.

Nothing about an injury from this guy, who reports for the Hawks.

Probably not enough gas to be a starter, but like you said a great team player. Dont believe this is true of all team players, but in Noah's case, he's the kind of player that inspires others to elevate their game. Those great runs without Rose couldnt have been done without him. Dont want to break the bank of course, but I hope there are talks.

feel the same way but I am leery of injury prone older players.

Speaking of benches, Chicago is going to have one scary bench this season if they can stay healthy.

It is a nice gig, pay must be good too. Wonder if Kenny made more as a player or as an analyst over the years?
