Knicks · Who else is excited about the season? (page 2)
I expect the interior defense to be much improved. 3pt defense will be very important as our new improved frontcourt should encourage teams to shoot more 3s.
Overall Im excited about this season. Not excited about paying for F'%#%%^ league pass, but Im excited about this team possibly taking a big step forward. I dont expect the Knicks to get to the ECF unless Porzingis plays lights out. Otherwise, I would still be happy to watch the Knicks make the playoffs and represent again. Would like to see the Knicks make any team that knocks them out of the playoffs really earn it.

I don't know how many times I have to prove this but even back when Phil was in LA his teams were very efficient. A team like Golden State plays at a faster Pace today but that doesn't mean today's teams are more efficient. They're just getting up more shots. You're either EFFICIENT or you're NOT. The Triangle doesn't hamper efficiency.

I am not worried about the triangle as much as I am worried Fisher. He has a lot of guys that have the talent to be rotation players. It will be interesting to see what he does with a player rotation.

there is a lot to be worried about. That is why most non homers predict that we win about 30 games.

I haven't been wrong in every prediction i've made, not that you'd really know. That has nothing to do with what i'm posting about right now. You just lazily bring that up to try and ding me but it won't work cuz you still didn't address the false point you made that somehow the triangle doesn't translate to the modern game. You went for the typical lazy ass diss of Nixluva that many have resorted to when they have nothing to disprove what i'm saying.
All you did was state the obvious. Yeah good players tend to be efficient. That's not the point. If the Triangle was an inefficient offense then it would hamper Pau Gasol and the team as a whole would not score efficiently or perhaps you don't understand Offensive Efficiency.

You bought that tripe and didn't do any research on your own. That's why you did't know that Phil's teams were pretty efficient. NO they weren't the most efficient or the fastest paced, but they had a balance and were able to win Titles. The Triangle wasn't a detriment to playing efficient Basketball then and it shouldn't be now. It's about execution. If these players execute at a high level they will play efficient ball.
If the team only won 30 games and took too many long 2's rather than a balanced offense, that would mean the players are doing something wrong. We have post up bigs who should be able to score the ball at a high % and get to the FT line. We have guards and wings who should be able to hit 3's and get to the basket. There's WAY more to his offense than long 2's. If you knew more about it you wouldn't be talking like you are.

pretty much across the board, pro's are predicting that we win about 30 games yet you and your ill-ogic dismiss it as stupid and uninformed.

+1
Agree on the defense, and having something like Zinger and Rolo back at the rim, who both can also make opposing bigs work on the opposing defensive end, without constantly having to play 4 on 5 on offense, is something we haven't had in awhile. Pray for health, and the D.
Most pundits are simply doubling the red herring 17 wins and coming up low-thirties. I think that's a worst case scenario. I see the downside at 32 wins. I think 42 - 45 (a little better than .500-ish) is very possible with the wind of good health at the team's back. I'm factoring in that other teams will have their injuries and problems.
I think Phil will make a trade move in Dec. or January - say two deep bench players for a quality veteran pine brother from some under-performing team looking to jettison salaries and maybe promote a D-Leaguer. Too early to speculate about specifics at this point in time.
I do agree that the second half of the season is key and we should see an acceleration of wins then rather than earlier in the season. I think we've moved from the patience meme on to the anticipation meme (time to start winning again). I'm expecting that the Knicks become the surprise team of season.

But you are right about getting him to change. Try convincing someone that a coin flip is 50/50 when they keep saying but it could definitely be 10 tales in a row. Tell me why it can't? See? It can be!
nixluva = anti-dk7th :) with the same level of repetition.

It should be both exciting and we should have a pretty good "product" on the floor.
I think we'll know by 1/3 into the season how good this team is, and then we can make some noise and get the chemistry flowing nicely in the 2nd half.I'm mostly looking forward to a more team oriented game and watching Grant and KP develop.
The way the team is constructed, I do think we will surprise people, by the 2nd half.
Well saidI'm pretty much in the same boat. Dumping the malcontents/stiffs/dregs (read: JR, Chandler, Bargs, etc.) was a key part of what will make this team exciting to watch. Stoked for Zinger and Grant to blossom together.
"There's something happening here....what it is ain't exactly clear..."
i have not seen grant and kp on the floor playing with one another enough to foresee them blossoming together. it would be nice if we saw more of them on the floor at the same time in the next several games though. seems like grant will come off the bench and that kp will start. not a whole lot of overlap there, although they are clearly the future.
grant may be hindered by a sketchy jumper and an inability to draw fouls.
