offseason he should seek out Kevin mchale and learn the post the right way
franco12 @ 10/10/2015 10:31 AM
what about Olajuwon? He actually tutors players. Not sure McHale actually offers this as he is a coach.

Works for Houston, I think, and I'm not sure he is actually allowed to help other players at this point. Amare might have been one of his final students, I think.

He already looks like a baby dirk on offense. I rather he try to learn defense/combat basketball from Bill Laimbeer who actually might be available since he is the HC of the Liberty. He had a major role in helping train kevin Love on all the little dirty tricks in the paint ...... though love never learned a lick of defense. Anyhow it wont happen because if it did then the media would say "Isiah Thomas is tampering with the knicks" and is trying to get Bill the HC job eventually and Phil is pretty good at avoiding that nonsense whenever possible.
WaltLongmire @ 10/10/2015 11:27 AM
Needs to use the glass down low. Continuously amazes me that bigs don't use it down low when they are at an angle to the basket.

Isn't one of the coaches we hired who used to work with OKC a big man coach, too, by the way?

Rookie @ 10/10/2015 11:35 AM
I don't see any reason for KP to start banging in the post at this stage. I would rather he just play his game, get comfortable and stay healthy
nixluva @ 10/10/2015 12:36 PM
KP I'm sure will try to add something new every offseason. He strikes me as the kind of guy that's never satisfied with where he's at. He WANTS TO BE GREAT. The kid wasn't happy with his rebounding in game one and so he came out against a better team and got 10!!! They told us before the draft that he was raw and wouldn't be able contribute this year... He worked his butt off and looks better every day.

Love when we pick the deficits and come up with ideas as if they or the team don't know what to do.

McHale is a coach for another team. Hakeem is an employee of the Rockets. I wonder if the one of the 25 knick coach's can teach him.

Rambis is the big man coach for the Knicks as well as the defensive assistant. He did the same thing for Phil with the Lakers. He's supposed to be good at both roles and I have no reason not to believe it.

I know fans like to reference former great players who current players should work with but just because those players were great it doesn't mean they're good coaches. You shouldn't go to Dirk but the guy who trained Dirk. Also, since this is a post offense I'm sure he'll grow that part of his game.

So, do we really need another Briggs/Kris/Post thread?

TheGame @ 10/11/2015 12:06 PM
KP for this season just needs to focus on learning the offense, rebounding, team defense, shot blocking and hitting open jumpers. That little pump fake and 2 dribble pullup jumper he did against the Wiz is another move he needs to incorporate. Beyond that, it is too soon to be worrying about developing his post game primarily because he is not yet strong enough for it to be effective.
