Regarding the thing about Monroe, Im thinking there is truth there. But we don't know how much of it regarding WCS.

I'm big on leadership, but i gotta say, there's a lot of high character, hard working, unselfish players on the team, and if your roster is filled with those types, the lack of true leadership won't hurt as much

- phil is ok with the wild types like "Rodman and Artest" as long as you have a good stable team around them (used the word "blending" a million times)
- phil liked jerian grant ever since he met him with horace a few yrs ago
again, a lot of this is common knowledge. the main thing that stands out was how badly he wanted WCS.(i'd post pictures but i dont want to get him in trouble)
Funny - but that second line relative to Monroe and WCS was what I was anticipating and pushing for all along.
That said -- I think we lucked into something better.

Yeah...I think we have a pretty good group, and in many cases they might not need the kind of leadership that certain players need to stay in line, because they are never going to be out of line.
I see a pretty self-motivated group. Some of the younger guys might need encouragement, and Williams, if he goes freestyle too much, might need a reminder every now and then, but this is a good roster as far as focus, IMO.
Anthony can set the tone right from the start if he plays team ball, plays the way Phil and Fish want him to play, and sacrifices some time with the ball and some points. He's shown some flashes of doing this during the pre-season, but tonight's game would be perfect time to show the complete transformation.
I'm going on the belief that he has changed a bit over the past few months, and maybe he takes that next step and becomes an on the court leader, even if it's the "by example" type of leadership.

The fact that Melo is scoring efficiently and MOSTLY within the flow of the offense is showing TEAM BALL. That's the entire point. Melo's primary role is as a TOP SCORER. He's not supposed to be looking to play PG. If he should pass the ball then I expect he will. He hasn't been forcing bad shots. He's moved the ball just fine, but most of the time they're working the ball to him in order to score efficiently. That's no different than Jordan or Kobe.

Saw him set some picks and do that little hand-off to a cutting guard a few times.
I have not had as much of an issue with his pre-season shooting because my feeling is that he needed to regain the confidence on his shot. I am also hoping that Aflalo takes a few more shots in pre-season than I might want him to take in the regular season.
Of course I'm going to be critical of him if he continuously breaks the flow of the offense if things are going smoothly for the rest of the team- I regularly get attacked for being over critical of Anthony.
I'm just hoping that he sees the light and we see more team play in our early games and it carries over to the rest of the season.

I have no problem with his shooting in the preseason either :-) he has been red hot. If he can shoot like that the whole season then he better not be passing the ball too often.
My point was that this has not shown that he is ready to play team ball. That is yet to be determined.
We will get to see this pretty soon when the games count and his shot is off.
I too am expecting / hoping that we see a new Melo as I do every opening day. I won't be shocked if I'm disappointed again but for now, I am going into it with an open mind.
I would love to see a TS of 57+ and 4 assists a game. This can be easily done with very minor tweaks to his mentality.
