Knicks · Our big men are dreadfully slow (page 1)

We may have to adjust--I dont not see us controlling pace in this NBA.

So you secretly wanted WCS all along. I knew it!

mreinman @ 10/22/2015 9:02 PM
I was big on the rolo signing but he has really looked slow out there.

Lol. He hates WCS

franco12 @ 10/22/2015 9:43 PM
maybe 27 wins isn't that ridiculous.
Knicks1969 @ 10/22/2015 9:46 PM
Carmelo is not shooting well at all
ChuckBuck @ 10/22/2015 9:47 PM
Forget our bigs, Melo doesn't do anything else if his shot isn't falling.

Definition of zero sum $124m player.

Knicks1969 @ 10/22/2015 9:58 PM
I don't trust this back court

I don't know, he played some pretty decent defense tonight.

I don't think the backcourt was the problem tonight at all. The problem was exactly what the title of this thread points out. Too many times in the 1st half our guys didn't get back in time on defense, amazingly slow to get back.

The starting 5 is slow and unathletic..

Reminds me the 54 win team... not sure they are as smart and savvy.
But as slow for sure.

What did you expect when you have a dullard owner? Winning is the furthest thing from his idiotic mind. Why PJ want to be part of any of this franchise is a headscratcher.

PJ ego is huge. He believes he can make a winner even in this situation.
I think for now he is doing OK... but its a looooong way to go.

PJ has always followed a winning path. He surrounds himself with people who could win things. He went from Jordan to Kobe/Shaq. As a coach, he was potent.

As a person trying to direct traffic from behind the scene; he's a failure. Derek Fisher as Head Coach is laughable. Who could take him seriously when Jerry Sloan is still out there without a job?.

Reinvent yourself at 70 is a tall order.
But it is a low risk for him... but huge reward... regardless of the result

It does not require any reinvention to put together a winning team. He was a Knicks player in the past and he now gets to command the Knicks F.O but if he thinks he's any more effective behind the scene as it was in front of it; he's got so many things coming for him and all of it isn't good at all.

PJ is a coach and I would have loved him better as a coach for the Knicks and also, I would have loved it if he convinced Kobe Bryant to come to the Knicks and win a championship here.

Strange dreams.

That was my concern the day we signed him from for 4yrs $60mil? Slow & lumbering. Total offensive flow cocblocker. Everyone was infatuated with his advance stats. Including the Knicks. I think it was only me and Holfresh who saw him as an overpaid 20min a game stiff who is useless in the playoffs.

Paris907 @ 10/23/2015 7:01 AM
Lopez was signed for defense and cleaning up some on the offensive glass. The second unit is decidedly faster yet it's the NBA and that means it's matchup sensitive. Take a few positives. Calderon played well. Afflalo looked good before hammy hurt and they narrowed the lead to two despite Melos 4-18 showing. D will takes it to the hole and it's been awhile since we've seen a slasher in NY at least a slasher to the bucket!

I don't think he's a stiff but I have the same concerns. Definitely feels overpaid to me. Hopefully he has a bigger impact than what I'm anticipating.
