Knicks · Carmelo says "Phuck New York" filming a segment for Vice (page 1)

ChuckBuck @ 10/27/2015 9:14 AM
“New York is the greatest city on the planet,’’ he says. “But you’re not a New Yorker if you don’t wake up in the morning and sometimes say f–k this place. I don’t care who you are — the mayor, governor, all the way down to the mailman. Everybody wakes up some days: ‘Hey, f–k New York.’ ’’

Interesting take by Melo. Hmm, let's see. Be grateful for the $124 million bestowed upon you paid by "New Yorkers" to Jimmy Dolans pocketbook, or just give them the verbal bird. "NO. Phuck You Melo"....says every true New Yorker.

crzymdups @ 10/27/2015 9:19 AM
I agree with Melo. That's a fine quote.
NYKBocker @ 10/27/2015 9:28 AM
I hope he understands that new yorkers now will say "Fuck Melo" for saying that. This dude needs a really good publicist or just keep your mouth shut. I don't particularly care but I can see this blowing up on his face. Cue NY Post/Daily News backpage....
fishmike @ 10/27/2015 9:29 AM
I read the article and Melo is dead on. I work in this city, am grateful as the wages I earn are really only available in this market and I to say F*ck this place at least a few times a week. I read this article and thought to myself which UK poster is going to start an anti-Melo thread based on the article? My money was on Chuck. He didnt disappoint.

Appreciate the vote of confidence.

Listen. We all have our good and bad days. Rough commute, bums in the street, stepped in shyt. Yada Yada.

That said, you never ever ever under any circumstances bite the hand that feeds you. He forced his way here. We welcomed him. We paid him handsomely. We rained "MVP chants on him."

No excuse for "Phuck New York". Sorry fishmike, you're wrong.

mreinman @ 10/27/2015 9:51 AM
no problem with this at all. Melo is not a bad guy he is just so conflicted and it kills him that he is not more loved in NY. What he does not get (yet) is what it takes to be loved in NY. You have to give it your all every night, you have to be a team player, OR ... you have to win.

Some more defense and some more passing can change everything. Or fuk that team player bull sh1t and just win.

If you don't win you better make sure that NY thinks that you did everything that you can to try.

Again, not a bad guy at all just does not really get it sometimes.

SupremeCommander @ 10/27/2015 9:59 AM
I think making it in NYC requires so much tenacity and determination to make it that you almost have to get a little defiant when things don't go your way. What Melo said rings more than true to me.

BTW Chuck.. when you say "WE welcomed him" who the hell are you talking about? Generally "we" implies you include yourself. Ive only been here a little while but pretty sure you never welcomed him, accepted him or embraced him in any way shape or form. No, its running with tabloid rumors, talking about MElo's feelings like they are facts, startin threads about his hats and fattness, and spouting your opinions like they are facts. Im pretty sure you are the part of NYC that Melo is saying f-k to, and that sir seems about right.

No excuse needed. Spot on quote from Melo. Your thread is a perfect example of why Melo's quote is 100% appropriate.

But anyway... that is the all the level of participtation I take in these types threads as they dont hold interest for me and Im not on Melo's payroll so have at it and enjoy

If we had a true New Yorker saying "Phuck New York", it's more understandable, since you lived and breathed New York for pretty much your whole life. Familiarity breathes contempt.

Melo's only been here since 2011. He's from West Baltimore and Denver. He never lived here for real, don't count that born here BS. That's like Taylor Swift saying she's a true New Yorker, because she lived here for a couple months to make the "Welcome to New York" song for her album.

Melo 100000% wrong. Not a true New Yorker.

Ewing was all the above and then some...What happened there?

you don't need to be here that long to be/become a true New Yorker. Its what you do in your time here.

he didn't pass enough and had a sh1tty personality.

You can make up a reason to hate everyone in NY..Look at Eli and Coughlin..U have to be like Jeter to get over..Win 5 times and have no public persona..

Why do u care about Ewing's sh1tty personality..You are best friends with the press now?

Guess he hasn't done much then.

Best case, here until the trade deadline and he can say "Phuck New York" in another city. Worst case, we got 4 more seasons of his ball chuckery and buffoonery...

I care become it made me fall in love with him less. Love is love.

knicks1248 @ 10/27/2015 10:42 AM
How many time Ewing said the same think through out his knick career, by yr 12 for ewing, most fans had a love hate relationship with him, starks, and oak. some fans thought sarks was to unpredictable, wild and streaky, fans thought oak was to slow, un athletic, and could never finish a fast break, some thing with ewing.

It is what it is, you win in NY, your loved forever, if you keep coming up short, your going to get rip apart by the fans and media.

I care about many things other than effort. Brains, Selfishness, and personality count a lot for me as well.

Balkman played hard and left it all on the court too.
