You probably take shump over reggie too.
Do you agree that Barkley's decline came 5 whole seasons before Ewing's? Ewing was still putting up 20 & I p in 98 until Andrew Lang ended his career
Bird had a sharp decline also in the later stages of his career mostly due to back injuries. Nash also.
Barkley, Bird, and Nash's primes were better than Ewing's prime and there's nothing wrong with that.

Eli and Houston as examples of true New York sports heroes... this is pretty funny. They heroically took tons of backpage shit, no doubt.
Great thing about New York is since it's so dense, everywhere you want to do a happy dance you are dancing on someone's grave.
We traded Clyde and Tom Seaver...Made Bernie almost commited to the Red Sox..Kano is in Seattle..

You guys all need to brush up on your NBA history. If that's the case you take Derrick Rose off his one MVP season over say Paul Pierce and Dirk Nowitski
Derrick Rose never made it to the NBA Finals. Barkley came close but ultimately fell short to Jordan in 1993.
And what happened from 93-98 in terms of comparing Barkley to Ewing?
Barkley went ring chasing and went to Houston where Olajuwon and Drexler were.
Ewing slowly declined each season, then got a team boost when LJ, Houston, and Childs signed in 97.

GTOH...Steve Nash couldn't guard a chair....Bird is an all time great probably top 5..Need not mentioned with the others...Come on man...
I haven't even brought up Barkley's lack of defense but let's hold everything against Ewing for putting up 20/10/2+ blocks 50% FG on shitty teams that had no business not only making the playoffs every year but go deep in the playoffs as well.
Again tell me why I'm drafting Barkley over Ewing?

WTF!?
decline? Barkley played better in the 3 seasons after the finals (93) than ewing did in his whole career.
Ewing was better after 93-99 than barkley? You can't be serious. PPG is not everything ... please visit the rest of the stats.

ok ... so you really like ewing. No need to get all emotional.
Barkley vs Melo ... who you got?

And with all the worship of Donnie Baseball and the Boss's uncontroversial band of beardless company men, on this most auspicious day in Mets history, let's not forget about those knuckleheads over in Queens that were doing coke & groupies, trashing planes and winning pennants. I think the city Hall of Heroes has room enough for all types and stripes.
LET'S GO METS!

Ewing was a much more superior defender than Barkely..Much more superior...
Ewing was a better defender than Barkley, no question about that.
Barkley was the better all around and overall player than Ewing and it's not even close.
for those of you who are too lazy to check
Barkley 96-97:
19.2 points a game (damn! not 20 ppg?)
13.5 fuk NY rebounds per game
4.7 yes 4.7 assists per game
Ewing:
22.4
10.7
2.0
yes ... ewing was much better than him that year! Really?

+1. Can't believe the stuff I am reading in this thread.

It's not even close and neither is the Melo to Ewing comparisons
New Yorkers are Number One...
At turning true Knickslove into true Knicks disgust and coveting thy neighbor's power forward.

you love ewing but you need to step back and take a unbiased look.
Ewing >> barkley defensively
barkley >>>>>>>>> Ewing offensively
Ewing was a better team guy so I can see why one would want to start a franchise with him over barkley. Barkley was the type to say fuk philly!

I have a couple of buddies that are huge sixers fans. My guess is if they could go back in time have Ewing over Chuck they would take Ewing.

The gall of a Knicks fan to love one of the greatest Knicks ever. How dare a fan(atic) be biased?
The way this thread has devolved off-topic is exactly what Melo was talking about... and yet it continues with no recognition of the irony. Yea what a dumb ballplayer. Who's so smart now?
I put Olajuwon & Shaq ahead of Ewingas far as all time Centers but there's no way I'd draft Barkley, Malone who had Stockton and Reggie Miller over Ewing
When MeloHate is so strong, it turns into EwingWhinging!
http://www.landofbasketball.com/player_c...this is a good comparison. Basically, the only stat for both regular season and playoffs that Ewing beats barkley is of course blocks. Shocker being that barkley was 6' 4.
This does not even show advanced stats in which barkley absolutely destroys ewing.
In my opinion, Barkley may be the most underrated player of all time.

and I am sure that has more to do with barkley being a nut job / loose canon. Not because ewing was a better player. That is a joke.
I would be scared to draft Dennis Rodman too but he may have been the best defender / rebounder of all time.
