The guy can flat out score. I thought I was watching a version of sprewell out there with his locks and play. He also rebounded like his athleticism and size dictates he can. I thought he handled the ball very well for 6-8 240 and while he did take 17 shots in 24 minutes--he was also a ball mover. I think we have a 6th man of the year type here--thats IF he is not moved into the SL.

why would he be moved to the SL? who's gonna score off the bench? gallo cant carry that every night. no reason to add that pressure on both gallo and dwill
The biggest addition to this team has been THE TEAM.
I seriously doubt he'll be moved to the SL. It just wouldn't make sense to do that, unless it was something temporary to stand in for someone, like if they were to give Melo a night off. And even then I don't think it would happen. But yeah, I'm really liking what this guy is bringing. It's always nice to see someone back up their words with action, especially when they're wearing a Knicks uniform. It's especially encouraging that he's still young. That makes chances better that he'll be able to keep up this level of intensity for a good portion of the season. I just hope he's smart about it. No need to over-do it when you don't have to.

Yeah, that's another thing. These guys look like they've got some really nice chemistry going, even though more than half the team just came in this year. I'm really hoping that this lasts and they build on it.
The team will take better shape as the season goes on.
I need to see a chunk of success before I get too optimistic about anything. Revisit this thread after 10...15 games and see if people feel the same way about things. I feel this way about the team, AND individual players.
Lots to like coming out of this game, but it is still only one game, and we have at least 81 more games to go.
What I look at is that we beat a decent team...one that usually seems to have our number- even if they were missing some players- and we ourselves were playing with a still recovering Anthony, a slowed Lopez, no Aflalo, no Seraphin, a rookie PF who is only going to get better as the season progresses, and a roster that probably had more of a turnover than any team in the NBA.
Particularly happy with the fact that Kidd tried to blitz us and take the heart out of our team early on, and this group did not crack...and eventually took the game to the Bucks in their own building.
There was much to be happy about, but I'm going to exhibit some "fan discipline" and not get too excited about one victory...even if I might want to.

I must admit, I thought you were wrong when you kept saying we should target Williams last season, but I'm very pleased he is proving me wrong- is he exceeding your expectations for him, our is this the player you envisaged he'd become?
Let's not get too giddy. They were missing two quality starters and we were missing one. Knicks played super and I'm thrilled not to be the laughing stock that we were last year. Congratulations to Coach Fisher and to PJ for seeing something in DWill. OQuinn played solid and 11 boards off the bench is really solid. This was also a confidence builder for Grant and KP as they scored some 27 combined in their debut. While Sasha took Earlys minutes tonight he is self contained, didn't force the issue when he hadn't scored and was a facilitator. Im sure that Jason Kidd took note of Galloway who shot the lights out in the second half.

I'd agree- and I'm wondering if he shouldn't be starting.
He probably has the kind of talent that could get him to an All Star game or to an NBA All something team, or 6th Man.
Of everyone we added, he has the most upside, and we'll probably see him leave at the end of the year for a huge payday somewhere else
Why mess with success? Let him play the super sub role. It fits him. That unit can run and they can play good D. Nice combination.
This is a team that is being built right. IT's not perfect but they are on their way.
Calderon was the biggest issue last night. His D is pitiful. Really bad.
I am hopeful that DWill can continue this. He has the ability too, just hope he has matured enough to understand what he must do nightly.
Low risk high reward. I don't understand why so many people were against this signing saying we overpaid by $4mil per
$5mil is a bargain for a former #1 pick who was great in college and showed he could play in the 2nd half last year. So glad after 3yrs of begging we finally got him. These are the type of players and smart high reward signings that can make you go from laughingstock to contender real quick. As was the O'Quinn signing

Yup we are fortunate. DW has only played in some of the worst teams of all time in Minn & Sac. If he was on a good team with a great coach and system that knew how to harness his talent he would not be available and we'd still be wondering how can we get this type of player here. I think Phil knew he had the skills to flourish in this system. Might have saw some of the same things he saw in Odom in DW which I thought about the minute we signed him.
I also loved the Affalo signing. Lopez I could've done without for $14mil per when he is a good 20min role player/locker room leader type. But having multiple 7fters who can play is never a bad thing

Agreed. You pay him especially if he likes it here and has proven himself here in New York. The old Knick way is to chase other teams former stars. Usually over the hill, injured or malcontents
Another big addition is O'Quinn. He's a solid all-purpose big who's greatest strength is working the boards.

I'm all for paying him.
I just worry that- and as a Knick fan and Met fan- we'll want a different shiney new toy in the off season and be too cheap to pay him the money he will see on the market.
I wonder if he and his agent were ever open to signing a longer deal?
